Ai decisions have me close to quitting go

6/6 immediately rejected contributions from the automated bot. It would help if it at least explained the criteria it gets kicked for.

Welcome to the forum!

If you would like to post screenshots of the rejected nominations, we can try to advise. It is easier for me to discuss one at a time.

The automated process kicks in around 24 hours after creating the nomination. Time spent in “Upload later” status counts towards this. If your nominations are being rejected as soon as you submit, there may be some technical issue going on with your data.

Hello and Welcome,

This is going to sound harsh but the majority of these comments are either…

  • The nominations do not meet criteria.
  • The photos / text are poor (in a wayfarer way) that means that eMiLy (the automated bot) can not distinguish what you are nominating.

I recommend following @cyndiepooh suggestion, screen grab your favourite showing both photos, all the text fields and if possible the GPS Co-ords from your 1st emails then post here.

At least you will get advise of either, this is a “no go” or what to change to improve your chances.

Good Luck

Community gardens can be eligible, but my guess is that this just looked like some random landscaping to the the machine learning model. Are there any signs you could take a photo of instead for a new nomination? Do you have any links about the community garden for documentation that you could provide in the supporting section?

Alternatively, you could appeal this one. I usually try a new submission before I use an appeal since those are more limited than nominations. We get 2, each on a 15 day counter before we can use it again. If you aren’t seeing the Appeal button, you don’t currently have one available.

imo a community garden can meet all three core criteria: exercise, explore, and being social.

Yeah, I already used my two appeals, one of them is still pending.
If I resubmit, with the same photos;

  1. what are the odds it gets past the machine?
  2. isn’t that abuse and opens me up to a ban?

Submitting with the same photos will probably trigger the same result… its really reccomended to try with new photos, or at least better cropped photos in some cases.

My frustration is with the ai, and it’s responses, being pretty useless.

I don’t think the response is useless. It means that it failed to detect anything that met criteria in your nomination. That means that you need a photo that better showcases what you are nominating. And anything that helps make the nomination clearer to the Machine Learning model will also make it clearer to human reviewers.

Resubmitting an eligible point of interest will not get you in trouble. In fact, a rejected appeal will often suggest you resubmit with more information. I will edit in an example if I can find one.

AI did a lot of job filtering ineligible nomination. If you have done some review, you will notice the review quality improve because AI work. In process, some eligible might got rejected but we can improve these. Appeal also possible.

Resubmitting eligible nomination wont get u banned. Spamming low quality nomination that you know ineligible is subject to abuse ladder system though.

I would also maybe note in the description that what is grown in this garden is donated to those in need instead of putting it in the supporting info. I’ve gotten some charitable community gardens approved, and I made sure to note this aspect in the description, while providing a link to more info on the program in the supporting info.

And yes, I do agree with taking some better photos. Keep in mind that main photos do not have to be taken vertically and can be taken horizontally, which may make for a better main photo and show the garden off better. It may also help eliminate some of the unneeded foreground and background in the main photo and focus more on the garden.

Hello and welcome @otso171

It’s not always clear or obvious where the best place is to post when you are new to the forum, and since this is about individual nominations, I will help by moving it to nomination support.

And I understand your frustration with an auto decider rejecting your nominations.

I take it all back. With Emily bing down, I’ve seen all the bad nominations it was protecting reviewers from. I’ve seen rocks, trash, random equipment, and a bunch of people’s houses.

ML isn’t down right now and is currently reviewing nominations. However, there was a change in levels in PoGo on Oct 15th, and this has brought in some new users that may not be familiar with what may or may not be eligible, and, depending on how the nominations are presented, they may slip through ML and onto community review.

We aren’t told exactly how ML works, and this is for the best, as if we were told, some may take advantage of it, which could be seen as abuse. Sometimes ML does let bad nominations through, but it’s up to the reviewers to make sure they aren’t getting approved if this happens.

Seriously, we kind of need to settle down when ML is down. I’ve seen some coal, but those are not hard to review and/or report. We could be back to when we didn’t even have ML around, and many of us here remember those days.

I don’t review, so it doesn’t affect me. was just letting you know that it does appear to be down again since you just replied that it was not. i am settled.

Yeah, maybe because if it is down, I don’t find it odd and point it out like others do. I just keep reviewing like always.

Then go back to reviewing and stop responding to my silly post apologizing to a machine.
