Doing some reviews today and came across this one.
Hmm…that looks very familiar I thought. Then I realised that it was. I had nominated this in its actual position (in London).
Reported as fake on review, as it may not be apparent to others who haven’t passed by this.
Any other clear fakes that people have seen lately?

I like how they managed to photoshop the plaque that says “St. Pancras” out of the main photo, but then didn’t bother to remove it in the supporting photo

Geez, they already have a generic chain business with a Wayspot…

I’m talking about the Aldi that has a Wayspot near where the fake was placed. Aldi is a grocery store chain.
The joke fell flat.
I’d spelled it “spout” to make fun of the fountains in the thread.
Gosh, the last time I was in an Aldi was probably the late 1970s!

Well, you did reply to me, and since I’m not the OP, that’s why it fell a little flat…
Well, I meant to reply to you since your post finished with “Wayspot”.
So, yeah… my joke went no where real fast!
I got this one too! Reported it as double

The drinking fountain is one of the spots I reject in seconds. The second image doesn’t show the surrounding area, the wall doesn’t match the waypoint. And on the first sight you can see, the wall isn’t to find in the area. By the way, I reject nearly every possible waypoint where the second picture doesn’t show the surrounding area with the spot. We always must guess from far away if a spot is located there or not. If you can’t find it or don’t see any clear markers that the spot could be there, reject it.
The image shows a fake location. I see this nearly one time every year, a worse Photoshop fail.
What reason do you use for such rejections?
Yeah, I’ve already explained how wrong they are in another thread. They thought a sign for a walking path that can be seen on satellite view, but not in the supporting photo and Street View, was a fake. I explained how bad reporting submissions as fake could be, especially to a new Wayfarer, and how it could bring down their rating, or even lead to abuse warnings/bans for both them and the submitters.
BTW, the south entrance sign for the trail was already a Wayspot, so I don’t think the north entrance sign is a fake.
We have reviewed the report and have taken action on the Wayspot “Brough Public Drinking Fountain” and the Wayfinder in accordance with our policies.

Thanks for taking action.
To be honest, I’d totally forgotten about this. Might have remembered when I passed the actual object by in London.
