I just can’t seem to catch a break with the Niantic Appeals Team and my local painted power boxes.
Here’s the object I’m talking about in this case.
A painted power box that’s painted to look like a circuitry board because my city has a booming electronics industry.
Here’s what me and the appeals team had to say:
It is apparently “a regular transformer box”, completely glossing over the artwork covering it in its entirety.
Here are some of my other submissions that feature artwork by the same artist, all of which were either accepted by reviewers or by the appeals team.
Clearly this is not vandalism by some random buffoon but a series of artworks purposefully created by an artist. Therefore I would like Niantic to rectify this mistake made by the appeals team.

I have a hard time telling that this has artwork on it, due to all of the shadows and lighting. And since the images are downsized, it’s also hard to see the art on the box. So, I can certainly understand why the appeals team took the stance of this being a regular utility box, not one with art on it.
As someone that has worked in the electronics industry for many years, I clearly recognize the “art” and find it creative. That being said, not all the reviewers have that knowledge. I agree that a better picture without the shadows would help a lot. Since I don’t have the full submission, I can’t comment on the text but a link to an article about the artist or project might help in the supporting text. Remember it’s your job to sell the submission to the reviewer with proof if possible.
And the mistake has been rectified.
