What about benches for people to smoke at?
Thats really true
Iâm really tired of people refusing Pokestops high handedly. Some areas have limited options, others are spoiled by abundance. Scarcity should be taken into account.
My father has been trying to get a permanent bus shelter near him approved as a stop for years, as have I recently. It is constantly rejected by people who donât look at the landscape in which it is requested. There are limited options. My father now has terminal cancer. All he wants in his last months with limited mobility is to be able to enjoy the little things that gave him pleasure like this game. It would still mean heâd been inching up to it with his walker, but at least he would have a hope of getting to it, unlike the few other stops around which are way too far away.

This conversation makes me think again how much the reviewieng is influenced by not wanting to âlose agreementâ.
I am sorry your father is dying from cancer. So did mine. It was a terrible thing to witness. But that does not make a bus shelter meet Wayspot criteria.
I have had some bus stop art approved if you would like to speak to your local governing body about installing something. Or you could speak to your local community ambassador for Pokemon Go about installing their Ambassador Pokestop at a place he can access.
I logged onto the computer this morning and was greeted by the first ever email summarizing activities in this forum. The first note concerned an ambassador program, which I dismissed because Iâm a newb here and donât really have the time to dedicate to it. The second was this post, and what an eye-opener it is.
Before I begin, I would like to preface my remarks by suggesting that Nianticâs communication is extremely weak. That topic is probably best saved for its own post but suffice to say the various criteria for pokestop nominations is permeated with fog and clouds. Hence the wide-ranging interpretations.
But Niantic understands the subjective nature of nominations. If I may be indulged a translation: just because a bench or bus stop appears common or generic to you does not automatically make it so. If someone has been submitting the same location time and again, we would do well to ask ourselves why. And letâs remind ourselves that Nianticâs games thrive because of pokestops - that means borderline cases ought to be given the benefit of doubt. If we deny new stops based on pedantry then we are also discouraging players without whom there would be no game. That is not to suggest everything should be approved, but rather we are not a school and should not demand that every pokestop be worthy of the six oâclock news or require months of homework. A good many people, when playing, donât look at the reason for the pokestopâs existence. Believe it or not, they just want to get a few more pokeballs. And I can find no justifiable reason to begrudge them their game.
For whatever it might be worth, my first 14 of 14 pokestop nominations were accepted. Then I hit a brick wall. The only explanation was âRejection Criteria: Wayfarer criteriaâ and when I appealed one of them I got the âcommonâ word thrown at me with a generic link to the criteria pages. (Related to this is: three that were accepted have not appeared on the map in the game they were submitted from, but maybe that is for another topic on another day). The point being: how can I fix what is never told to me? Why must I resubmit when all that is needed is a better explanation? The answer: the system is flawed, not just its users and reviewers.
Iâll step down off my soap-box now. Thanks for listening.
That rejection reason, Wayfarer Criteria, means that Nianticâs AI rejected it. Probably within 48 hours of nominating, with rejection email saying âour team decidedâ instead of âthe community decidedâ.
If youâll share your nomination in the Nomination Improvement section, this group is very good at figuring out how to improve it to pass (and will gently let you know if you should let it go - and will help you find something else).
