Hello I’m just wondering if there’s anyone in here who lives outside of the 1st developed world?
So far I’m this group it seems exclusively people from developed western nations, but I do hope I’m wrong
Yeah I know this post will probably get censorship but that will just prove to me that there’s no diversity here

It is a global forum, so there should be.
There is an inherent numbers game though.
Becoming a wayfinder is through the games and some parts of the world play the games more than others.
That being said there are non-Western places with great interest in the games and this trickles down to wayfarer.
If you want the games to thrive in new places you need wayspots and wayfinders but if activity is low it can be difficult to build up the wayspot database and the wayfinders.
If you are a wayfinder in these areas there is usually a lot available to submit… Then you hit the potential problem of a low number of reviewers.
Emily, the machine learning bot, can help a lot as this can approve submissions. So good strong submissions can get approved even with low numbers of wayfinders. It’s a way that can help sparsely populated or low wayfinder areas.
It would be interesting to hear ideas about helping places like this develop.

I’m from the Philippines, not a first-world country yet.

Not sure what you’re looking for in terms of diversity, geographic diversity?
I am in Côte d’Ivoire right now. I’ve lived in East and Central Africa, and work in several sub-Saharan Africa countries and Southeast Asia, but am based in the US now.
In the five years, I’ve been working in Abidjan and the surrounding areas, I have seen the Pokémon GO community expand tremendously. I don’t really follow Ingress much.

That’s interesting information. Are there any factors in that growth where wayfarer activity is having an impact. And have you seen a wider range of submitters? Curious about the wayfinder experience.
I honestly don’t think that I could speak intelligently about any of the underlying reasons. But I can say is that I’ve observed is an increase in the number of people playing overtime, which in turn leads to an increase in the number of people submitting way spots, which grows the community even more. For example, in Abidjan, 5 years ago, there were just a few scattered PokéStops (The game I play most), in this large city. Now they’re all over the city and there’s a local campfire group with over 260 members.

There needs to be a better way for smaller places if you want the game to grow. In Albania we have a population of 2.4 million you cannot expect the same nr of reviews from here. An approve and take down if flaged approach would go way further in developing the game here.
How do others (this is an open question) identify and recruit friends/acquaintances into Wayfarer? There will always be fewer POIs in more rural/less populated areas, but it seems the number of reviewers is a big problem too. Do other wayfarers have experience expanding their local communities in less populated areas?
Welcome @DrOuzO14
Good to hear from Albania.
A good example where although close to other countries with lots of activity you need to grow.
It would be great to hear your ideas.
I am from Brazil, we make do. But I live in a state capital so that is not as hard. I lived in a small town for a few years, it was rough. That is what made me become a wayfarer, had to learn and do everything by myself there and then I had to move back to my hometown.

I do feel we have less eligible things though.
Brazil is a bit better now, for pogo at least if you are part of a club campfire community, we get two sponsored locations, one for raid hour and one for community days and other events. I hope it spreads out more soon.
