Apology if I can't ask this...but

I just seen this on the Wayfarer Showcase and it looks like it’s on private property… not sure if I can ask about this here or not, but should this be addressed as a SFPRP nomination?

I suspect I could be mistaken, but I am asking out of curiousity. Found the nomination in question.

It looks like a communal area of a care village.

So not SFPRP but like
Y to be considered a sensitive location.

I discovered the care village bit after the fact, but didn’t want to admit to my error in case I was wrong on that bit. But not sure if that should be considered as an eligible submission or not.

I haven’t gone into much depth but it looked as though it was a mixed bag of types of care including rehab.

According to Google Reviews… it’s called Rutland Care Vilage - Primelife.

Looking at the Intel map with the Openstreetmap overlay…

It is a mixed bag when it comes to senior care facilities, and I say facilities as these can include long-term care facilities, senior apartments/condos with staff support, etc. I don’t have an issue with this statue, as even the staff there would be able to play at the location, and if family visit, they would, too.

I don’t mind things that are outside of the facility, like say a gazebo, art, fountains, etc; I recently nominated and had accepted a picnic area at a new 55+ senior apartment building, and yes, I have seen young and old enjoying it now that the weather’s nice. Inside tends to be a little more in the grey area, but I’m usually ok with community rooms for gatherings and events, as sometimes there are even events there open to the public, or family may be visiting and go play bingo one day.

Yeah, let’s not forget that we have Wayfarer Ambassadors who fit that 55+ (or soon will) age bracket! Don’t deny us the wayspots we’ve created!

I saw this and didn’t think anything of it. Its clearly at a communal location and if I were at a care facility I’d want some PoIs!

Just want to be clear… my post was out of ignorance rather than with ill intent. Looked SFPRP, but turned out to be a care home.

It does beg the question as to whether I should sub anything I see at care homes that could qualify.

I would! I submit at hospitals for the same reason - nice gardens, cafés, seating areas, artwork etc can all be quite helpful. I’ve been in hospital a number of times the last 6 years and my main frustration is usually that the PoI is just out of reach

Also would say its good to have this topic because I think its quite a common question and its good to raise awareness again that these locations can contain eligible items. And yes I realise you probably knew that already but helps others! :smiling_face_with_three_hearts:

As a senior myself, I consider this a gray area. Senior apartment/condo areas are fine but with long-term care facilities, I would keep to items along sidewalks and roadways. The issue I would have is with POIs in areas where a group of players could disturb the occupants or staff.

This is where I am with the issue. There may be some who may be in the care centre who may have significant mental or medical conditions that could cause serious concern if a group of “strangers” that they are not used to gathering at the wayspot in order to do a number of raids. Some people could be loud enough to cause a disturbance.

I appreciate that the Wayspots are allowed, and I accept that my discomfort does not mean that they shouldn’t be allowed, but at the same time, I am questioning it as it’s not something that I thought was allowed.

I got the same one Showcased, but it’s this one I object to…

Although it’s not clear in the picture I posted, the number plate is clearly visible when enlarged. It shouldn’t have been accepted like that, easy to fix with a bit of cropping and blurring but I do wonder how these even get showcased…

I know roughly where that Noticeboard is, but it’s not easy for me to get to in order to submit a better one.

It seems trivial, but I’ve had my own submissions rightly rejected in the past to the same reasons. You won’t be able to see it in most Niantic games, but you can’t guarantee it.

I’ve made mistakes in the past where I had inadvertantly included a full number plate and not saw it during submission or in time when the Wayspot was decided. It is on us to be observant, but things can go wrong with ones observations. I don’t see this as a big issue, but just something that should in principle be fixed.

My experience in the US medical industry is that if people are that mentally disabled, they are in a locked unit, often called Memory Care Unit. Others who have temporary issues may be in a locked Behavioral Health Unit. Either way, there are safeguards to keep them inside their safe area and to keep visitors outside without signing in. So if there are multiple levels of care, I don’t worry about the most extreme ones. All the other levels of care should be able to have gaming interaction points, in my opinion.
