Location Edit Update?

I submit a location edit because of the misplacement of a wayspot, but when I went back to check the chat it had logged me out of my account and deleted the chat history. How will I know if support messages me back? My ticket number was 40851522 but that doesn’t really get me anywhere.

Hello and welcome @lissrej
It is frustrating if that happens, and it’s good that you kept ticket number. Hopefully a member of the wayfarer team check and respond.

Hey @lissrej ,

I see that the Wayspot has been removed from our database for not meeting the criteria.

Thanks,

Hello, can you tell me more about what criteria it didn’t meet? Also, now a Pokestop that was approved and was in game for the past few weeks has disappeared so I’m not sure what’s going on.

Thank you.

Were they your nominations? if so please do post here so we can see if there is an issue.

Yes they were my nominations.

What information do I need to post?

These still show on the Wayfarer Map, so I can see where they were located. The outdoor fountain was pinned where it would have been inside a building. Available Street View does not make it seem possible that the mural could have been where it was pinned, either. My guess is that is why they were considered to not meet criteria.

(Edited to note that they no longer show on the Submit map. The Wayfarer Map has its own separate sync, which is not at the same time as Pokemon Go sync.)

This makes sense. The correct locations of the points of interest are at the tip of the green arrows I’ve drawn. I wonder if Niantic support would be able to edit those for me.

The fountain is beneath that overhang, the overhead does also make that look like it’s a building but it is open air beneath the roof.

Hi there! Is it possible to take a look at my most recent reply with the green arrows for the correct placements of these two wayspots? These are my first submissions so I didn’t quite have the hang of how to be exact with my placement :frowning: I’m very sorry!!

I hope this is proving useful because you have clearly realised that there are lessons to be learnt here.

You do need to place things where they actually are. To not do so will potentially get you into trouble. So change your practice on that.
This is because you are manipulating the game board and it could be to you advantage.

Having they are in the wrong place you could try providing new photos a few for each that show the object in its surroundings so they can check they are there and that this is correct location. These will need to be geotagged. I’m not sure if they will accept them or not.

Yes, for sure. I’ll be exact with them when I submit something in the future, I had no intention of manipulating the game. I truthfully think I just didn’t have the map zoomed in far enough to be able to be exact enough .

I will be able to provide photos tomorrow showing the spots in their surroundings!

Hey @lissrej ,

It’s not about the placement, the location itself is ineligible.

Judging by the size and layout of the buildings (only), this would appear to me that it might be a school? If so, that’s why, schools are automatically ineligible.

Note, that’s only the property of the school itself, not a “school zone”. I have nine approved spots that are within school zones but on other properties (two restaurants and an apartment complex swimming pool that are across the street from a school, a second apartment complex swimming pool that is next door to another school, four on the property of a church that is next door to a school, and one at a church next door to a fourth school).

Why is this ineligible?

(Seeking clarity, not argument. The location being ineligible did not even occur to me.)

Calling this location ineligible is wrong and i will take that with me to my last breath. It shows a prejudice against persons with disability. It supports the stigma that older people or persons with disability should be locked away and not be integrated into modern society.

I hope it is a slight miscommunication and that Niantic actually mean the area has been geoblocked by the property owner, but the phrasing being different to normal suggests that is not the case.

Just as for hospitals, it should be possible for an amenities service to have locations where wayspots are acceptable and locations where they are not.

What is ineligible here?

I am extremely confused.

Unfortunately no, it’s a physical rehabilitation and long term care facility.

You mean like the place where I work and have several approved wayspots? What is ineligible about a person learning to live with disability?

Sounds like a place that can have plenty of eligible PoIs. One of my friends had a brain injury and played Pokémon Go as part of the recovery process due to all the fine motor inputs being helpful! Being unwell, injured or disabled doesn’t mean you do not want to socialise, exercise or explore, or stop playing games.
