I submitted a historic building with unique/iconic architecture as a Wayspot and it was rejected by voters as a private property. However, I had mentioned its conversion into a 5 unit apartment 13 years ago.
I then submitted an appeal, as I was under the impression that multi-unit apartment buildings didn’t count as private property, adding a link to a newspaper article documenting its conversion to an apartment building.
My appeal was just rejected with the following: “The nomination is on the property currently being used as a private residence despite it being historical and this makes it ineligible. “
Are apartment buildings no longer eligible way spots ?
(Typo in photo caption—the actual article correctly describes the house as Queen Anne style architecture, info that can be found in other news articles as well on the house and its restoration!)
Did you show something in the supporting info/picture to demonstrate that its apartments - maybe a link to renovation works, picture of multiple doorbells etc?
Its a gorgous house, absolutely stunning! And definitely looks big enough to be 5 apartments!!
I did successfully submit something similar which was accepted on appeal and for my supporting picture I used a wider angle of the road and building but also a close up of the multiple doorbells.
The only thing this doesn’t have is multiple doorbells or obvious separate entrances. It may be that the appeal reviewer relied on the images and didn’t check the supporting link - which clearly indicates this is multi-residence and not SFPRP.
You had the same problem with the initial reviewers, but would expect the appeal reviewer to take a little more care.
This way, you can attach up to 5 supporting images. One should be the usual supporting image and the rest can be screenshots, e.g., the website page showing this is multi-apartment. This way, that information is presented up-front and you don’t have to reply on people clicking links (still include the link!!)
I think the appeal rejection should just be overturned and the appeal reviewer should be warned to check the details provided more carefully. Reviewing these accurately is their job.
This does appear to be an obvious error. Hopefully Niantic will drop by, but there is no guarantee. Even if something appears obvious to wayfarers, when Niantic are aware of something else, they tend not to comment (as is their right), especially on appeal queries.
Hi @PlayItAgainPam
I’ve moved your thread to Nomination Support because the category Wayspot Appeals is for appealing rejected removal requests or to ask for reinstating removed wayspots.
Good luck with the beautiful building
They do.
There is rarely any comments from staff, however sometimes the poster of the query gets an email to say it has been accepted. I would give it a few days.
