New to submitting Wayspots and a question about the appeals process

Hi. I was wondering if any more experienced users could answer something for me. I submitted a Wayspot and it got denied not being a good place for the public to gather. So I did an appeal and was told it couldn’t be a spot because it was a private residence. The issue is that it is not a private residence. It’s a former home of a celebrity that has become an event venue. I can’t find a way to respond to my second denial to try and inform them that their reasoning for denying is incorrect. I understand you can’t make a spot at a private residence but this isn’t one. Should I resubmit it and note that it is an event venue or is there something else I should do?

My suggestion would be to screen grab your nomination including both photos, Title, Description and supplemental info.

The location would also be helpful, this can be found on the email from when you submitted the nomination.

We can only advise on what we see and you must be prepared that you may hear the opposite to what you are hoping.

By adding the location you can also ask for suggestions for other possible nominations.

An appeal rejection will normally have language such as “if this is not correct, please resubmit with more context,” so you can definitely try again if you have more to add and still feel it is eligible.

There is no way to officially appeal an appeal. It is meant to be a final decision. However, there have been some cases where the submitter posts on the forum showing the appeal decision was clearly wrong, when they quietly received a new email with an acceptance. That isn’t guaranteed, but is another reason to share the nomination information here for advice.

Thanks. I just added the screenshots to the original post and included one of spot on Google Maps where it even shows that it is an Event Venue. I feel like even with just the smallest amount of research when I appealed their initial decision they would have seen that while the location is in a neighborhood it is no longer a private residence

The burden is on you to prove it is not a private residence. If I understand correctly it’s available to rent as a vacation home or event venue?

Can you show your full main photo? It is hard to piece it together in my head.

If I were going to submit this, I think I would center the main photo on the plaque, more like this

I read this link, and I am still not sure it is eligible. Yes, it can be used for events, but it can also be rented for people to stay there on vacation. I am not sure where the line on Single Family Private Residential Property (SFPRP) stops and starts here. If staff don’t seen this post and overturn the appeal rejection, I personally would not resubmit.

The clarification does not cover situations where someone lives there on vacation sometimes.

I have lived in the neighborhood for a while and I’ve never seen it rented out as a normal vacation rental. It does get used for events all the time. Some movie was even being shot there a few weeks ago. This property is very popular and you wouldn’t believe how many walking tours, biking tours, and bus tours stop by there every day, and even outside of that the number of people who just come by to visit it on their own is insane.

Y’all this is really easy to solve with a 2 second Google search.

It is available for vacation rentals. I believe this is still zoned as SFPRP.

If an appeal, focus on the POI that you are submitting, not on things nearby. Also focus on the community rejection, so if something is rejected for being SFPRP, provide evidence that it isn’t (don’t just state it). Apologies for saying this, but most of your appeal text was fluff that does nothing to show why this POI is eligible.
