I have submitted a gym, Basic-fit. As usual it was rejected by the community, but now also by the appeals team. I hope this decision can be reversed as it is a good place to exercise. Here is my appeal and all the other information.
Title: Basic- Fit Leeuwarden (53.196988,5.790212)
Description: “Zin in een workout of krachttraining. Bij Basic-Fit maak je gebruik van allerlij verschillende fitnessapparaturen.”
Supplement info: “Dit is GEEN generic business, het is een goede plek voor exercise en je kan er altijd sociaal zijn. Het is makelijk toegankelijk naast de stad en dichtbij het bus/ trein station van Leeuwarden”

A gym meets exercise criteria. There is no need for it to be “a locally longstanding/hyperlocal hangout/cultural hotspot significant to your community” to NOT be a generic business. I expect the community to misunderstand the “Generic Business” rejection, but not the appeals team.
Hoping you will get another look at this.
There is a wayspot here called Basic- Fit Leeuwarden.
It isn’t showing as active in Pokemon Go, but this might be because it is new. It isn’t possible to tell when it was added though!
Edit: It has your photo and description, so it looks like your wayspot was added. Hopefully it gets picked up by Pokemon Go.
Can confirm, Basic Fit is the largest fitness franchise in The Netherlands, so should have been approved
I did have a chain gym rejected by the community and the appeal reviewer, so I posted into the appeals category here and the appeal rejection was overturned, which was the correct result.
That may be what happened here?
I think that was entirely due to your posting here, resulting in Niantic silently reversing the rejection. Niantic do look at every post (sometimes before anyone else can comment) but don’t always post even if they take action. Good result eventually!
