Additional Information (if any):
The Wayspot is created in a location which is in the same S2 L17 cell and the Wayspot is created without a safety pedestrian or walkway.
2. Base on the photo taken, the Wayspot is located beside the main road without any safety space to stop or park the cars. There’s also hardly find a safe walkway or predestination area for players to gather.
Suggestion:
Remove the ineligible Wayspot
Maintain the Wayspot but downgrade from a Gym to Pokestop so we can have the gym elsewhere.
Wayfarer has no control over what is and isn’t a stop or gym in PoGo.
This actually appears to be safe for pedestrians to go to. On Street View, there are barriers around the temple, preventing vehicles from entering the temple. There are even people sitting in the south pavilion. There also appears to be a footbridge and path to the east connecting the temple to the food court building on Street View, which is outlined in the red box.
As from the Google maps picture shown, the pavilion you mentioned indeed allow players to access to the Wayspot. However, the heavy traffic on the small main road make us very difficult to stop by the vehicle at the area.
The “foot bridge” you mentioned in the red box is not for pedestrian purpose. It is a small water dam for technician to control the water flow in that river. That’s why there’s a barrier on the left to prevent people from crossing it, and it’s connected to the wall of the food court on the right (which is a dead end)
All my suggestions is all due to the safety issue for the local. We just hope that the Wayspot could disappear (as it violate the 20m rules and S2 17 cell rules) and move it to somewhere which is more safe and accessible to the locals.
You aren’t supposed to be playing any of the games while in a moving vehicle, even though there are those that do so. That has nothing to do with accessing this Wayspot on foot. Street View also shows that small vehicles can park here, such as a moped, and there’s even a car parked there.
I was also finding several social media posts online from people who have visited this Wayspot, and they were also able to take photos and videos without any safety issues.
Also, your photo from a vehicle shows nothing in regards to this being unsafe. It just shows the top of the temple while you’re driving by, which doesn’t prove unsafe access whatsoever. I also take that you may have submitted the removal request in Ingress, since you can do so remotely in it but not in PoGo.
Better evidence is going to be needed, and not from a moving vehicle.
Parking in that location seems possible but it’s very difficult ( as you can see even in the Google photo).
I tried to enter the Hindu temple to take better picture but they stop us from entering and picturing it we are not the prayer from the temple.
Would love to see if you have googled any photo showing players is playing around the temple.
Beside, the small car park area and the pavillion is owned by the Hindu Temple as well.
If we simply park there without praying in the temple (which I don’t), the temple personal will chase you out. As you can see, the parking very limited. So they only allow prayer to park their car.
However, back to one of the main point, the Wayspot shouldn’t be accepted at first due to the “20m rules” and “S2 17cell rule” which is one of the important requirements set by Niantic for nomination process.
It’s against the criteria for nomination for Pogo and Ingress. But somehow both game still shows these 2 Wayspots.
So would check with Niantic team and see what’s the solution for that
The density rules for PoGo and Ingress have nothing to do with the criteria; the density rules are set by each game, not by Wayfarer. I know of many Wayspots that are within 20 m of each other but in separate L17 S2 cells so they both show up in PoGo. I also know of several Wayspots being in the same L17 S2 cell but only 1 shows in PoGo while a few may show in Ingress, as long as they are 20 m apart.
You may want to review the Wayspot criteria, as again, nothing about the density rules for the games is ever mentioned. A temple would be a great place to explore, as it’s significant to the culture and history of the community.
You can find the criteria here:
Thanks for the appeal, @Victor0427 We took another look at the Wayspot in question and decided that it does not meet our criteria for removal at this time.
