I guess this will just be counted as a success then from the abuser’s side - they got what they wanted.
Might be worth watching for that library too ![]()

Will any action be taken against the person that Abused the system?
Surely, using faked images to manipulate the game board deserves a warning / suspension?
We take necessary and appropriate action every time we detect abuse.
Then why is a property owner able to request that a gym be demoted if you cannot control what type of in-game location appears. Just demote the one that was promoted because of this abuse.
You could control it by applying the same abuse in reverse: temporarily remove the wayspot that became a gym, wait until the original gym is restored, then reinstate the removed wayspot. I recall that, some time ago, the wayfarer team wiped out entire cells to force recalculations, so handling a single wayspot should be possible.
I am a bit confused, because it appeared in this post that a gym was restored after a user request, or at least that is how I interpreted it.
* Wayspot Title: Colorfully
Location (lat/lon): 60.265331, 25.025728
City: Helsinki (Tapanila)
Country: Finland
Additional Information:
I have updated the photos and added a current photo from today, Saturday, March 28th, to demonstrate that the waypoint is still in the correct location.
I am writing to formally appeal the removal of the Wayspot “Colorfully”. I have been a dedicated player since 2016, and this location is a pillar of our local community in Tapanila.
This spot, “Colorfully”, was a very active PokéStop for several years without any issues. Recently, it was converted into a Gym, but only two weeks later, the entire location was removed from the map. Currently, we have neither the Gym nor the original PokéStop.
I kindly ask for a formal review of this removal. This Wayspot is located in Tapanilantori, a central public square that hosts community events, especially during the summer. It is a safe, pedestrian-only area that does not interfere with private property, emergency services, or traffic. It perfectly meets all Niantic Wayfarer criteria for social interaction and safe exploration.
The removal has negatively impacted our local player base, and we believe it may have been based on inaccurate reports, as the site remains a safe and accessible public space. Please consider restoring this vital point of interest.
Thank you for your time and for reviewing this case. Best regards, luis36lp
Thank you very much to everyone for the help! I really appreciate the advice and comments from the active members of this forum. Thanks to your support, the Wayspot is finally back.
Since there are other gyms and stops that have been removed recently in my area, should I open a separate appeal for each one, or is there a way to report them all together? I suspect they were removed for the same misleading reasons. Thanks again for being so active and helpful!
You can report inappropriate behavior by a Wayfarer via the abuse form. Sorry that this is happening
Definitely report everything that seems suspicious. I hope everything can be restored back to how it should be ![]()
