Appeal for The disused South Harrow Gasworks Spur (Between Rayners Lane and South Harrow)

When submitting a Wayspot Appeal, make sure to include as much of the following information as possible:

  • Wayspot Title: The disused South Harrow Gasworks Spur (Between Rayners Lane and South Harrow)
  • Location (lat/lon):51.567747,-0.356046
  • City: London
  • Country:UK
  • Screenshot of the Rejection Email (do not include your personal information):
  • Additional Information (if any):

The nomination links to the disused spur branch of the Underground which took the workers to the Gas Works before it was shut down. This is all that remains of the branch line and has historical significance. In addition to the links below, Stanley Road, South Harrow - a nostalgic memory of South Harrow and epw009579 ENGLAND (1923). The Gas Works on Northolt Road and environs, Roxeth, 1923. This image has been produced from a damaged negative. | Britain From Above shows some historical references to the old Gas Works. The Gas Works no longer exists, therefore the branch line is disused. I’m not sure how to best put my case forward for this, but I do believe there is significant historical references to the local community. I’m happy to provide more context if needed.

No major urgency, but am wondering if there is any progress on this please?

As I commented in your other topic, this is an appeal of an appeal, not the type of appeals are worked on at this category.

So, where do I post an appeal of a rejected appeal?

You can try to ask for feedback on your nomination at Nomination Support so folks can have a look at it and give you feedback. At this moment is not possible to appeal a rejected appeal on nominations. Sometimes the Staff may see your nomination and decide to revert the decision, but is not what is normal.

I’ll move this to nomination support.

There is no formal appeal of an appeal.
Occasionally if someone posts an appeal outcome that is clearly the wrong decision then the nomination may get approved.

I do think the appeal decision is wrong (not with absolute convication), which is why I am appealing it on the forum I originally posted on. If the Niantic Staff still believes the appeal decision is correct, I won’t be resubmitting it as there is a high chance it will get rejected again.

@NianticAaron please can this be moved back to Wayfarer appeals please?

Hey, the topic, as we commented, should not be at Wayspot Appeals as is not the theme of that category. There we should only have appeals for rejected invalid Wayspot reports or request that removed Wayspots be restored.

Keeping the topic at this category will help the Staff at the moment of doing their job.

I suggest you to add more information, like all your nomination, so people can give feedback if needed and, maybe is possible the Staff could have a look, but this last part is not 100% sure.

This can be closed off now. The wayspot has been resubmitted, appealed and now accepted.

Congrats on the good outcome……and the persistence.

I wasn’t going to resubmit, but as I am now able to nominate via Ingress, it saved me a trip to the location (which can be a pain in the rear to get to from where I live), so I decided to do a remote submission. Our beloved overlord (aka eMILy) decided to reject my nomination, so decided to appeal… Just one less nomination to wonder if should have been.

I’m so pleased you got it accepted

I can see different perspectives as to why this should or shouldn’t be allowed. As this is historical relevant to the community, and a lot of people do not know about it (and I didn’t know about it until it was pointed out to me), I wouldn’t know to discover something that is part of history. I vaguely remember knowing there was a Gasworks in the community from years gone by, but didn’t know there was a rail link until recently.

I think I am running out of nominations to submit now.

From my perspective, definitely a good PoI. Considering we think post boxes have historical value, why not a gasworks

Enough information was found to tell the story of the location. It will now bring that previously hidden history to the map. That’s a good thing in my view.
