Rejected Appeal: Reddish Vale - Tea Corner

I didn’t realise rejections and appeals could be discussed on the forum so apologies if I’ve missed anything.

  • Wayspot Title:

  • Location (lat/lon): 53.432483, -2.129309

  • City: Greater Manchester

  • Country: England, UK

  • Screenshot of the Rejection Email (do not include your personal information):

  • Additional Information (if any): This was rejected for being a normal planter, but you can clearly see in the picture that it has a wooden artistic plaque attached to it indicating it is a place for the local community to gather.
Yes I understand it’s not the best piece of art but that isn’t the criteria for nominations. It’s unique, as there are other planters next to it which don’t have this artistic plaque, it’s a place of local interest and a place to be social with others. Brew is used in British slang for tea, so the sign is saying “Thanks for the brew corner”, as in thank you for a spot to drink tea; with tea being a big part of British culture.

Welcome to the forum!

Would you post screenshots of the nomination and the appeal reviewer’s statement if you would like advice? You can edit them in to the original post.

The Wayspot Appeals category is for appealing rejected removal reports or requesting wrongly removed Wayspots be reinstated, so I expect this post to be moved to Nomination Support

Hi, as Cyndie said, indeed there isn’t a route to appeal a rejected appeal so this has been moved to Nomination Support, but I would suggest sharing with the community in order to maybe get advice for a potential resubmission!

Welcome to the forum @LordZebedee

As the other comments state, it would be helpful to see screenshots of your nomination, as there is nothing visible on street view or satellite view at the coordinates provided, so it’s hard to tell exactly what we’re dealing with without being able to see it and what text you provided.

That being said, if it is at the coordinates provided, I can say it won’t be eligible to appear in Pokémon Go even if it is accepted. The Level 17 S2 Cell at these coordinates already has two existing wayspots, and only one wayspot per Level 17 S2 Cell can be a Pokéstop or Gym, so either the wayspot for the Park or the wayspot for the Orchard would prevent the planter from being added as a Pokéstop or Gym. I’m not sure which of them already appears.

Oh apologies, I thought those reviewing this would be able to see the nomination. Thank you for moving this to the correct category!
Here are screenshots of the nomination:

Hm. Frankly it looks like normal planter and it doesnt looks like permanent either. And the area doesnt looks like area where people really gather either. If you think its incorrect you need better description about it.

Thank you - it would still be better to share the complete nomination with all text fields so that people can give the best advice possible.

Hello @LordZebedee
Fellow Mancunian here.
I’m sorry to say that planter is not distinctive enough to be considered suitable for a wayspot and as @hankwolfman has said it would also not be a pokestop as the Park is already the 1 allowed pokestop in that cell.
You will need to look slightly further afield. You might be able to get the footbridge in. Have a look at this post What is your favourite bridge/footbridge/tunnel nominations? - #7 by elijustrying of one nearby for ideas.

Even though it’s not the planter that’s being nominated? It’s the plaque that’s on it which is being nominated.

I should have included the other planters in the picture as there’s 3 others close which don’t have the plaque on it. They’re all permanent, I’ve lived in this area for 2+ years and they’ve been there since I’ve been here.

Even if it’s not made a PokeStop due to what @hankwolfman mentioned about the S2 cells, could it not become a spot for dynamax? I’m not sure what the rules are around that.
Thank you for the link! This is very helpful.

The complete nomination included the info of:

Description:
Little spot for the community to share a cup of tea

Supplemental Information:
Art project by the community to encourage interaction and community well-being.

I can’t remember the tags / categories I put it under but I think I selected ones like plaque, artwork, art, etc.

Is the Orchard should be a Dmax?

The plaque is not itself a strong enough candidate.
IF there was seating - a picnic table or two that would be good. It would be a nice spot to gather near the community orchard. and with a table you could get out your flask and have a brew or two.
All of that makes it a good social space. See if the local councilor could get it agreed, Brinny needs more nice spaces.
There is also the possibility of another stop on the path that goes along side the motorway. I can’t recall what cell it is in at the moment.
But do look at how I presented the footbridge further north a good picture and supporting would work.

Yeah the Orchard is a Dmax, i thought this would be far enough away for another.
Fair enough, that makes sense. Apologies again for my lack of experience with the forums, at times nominations seem to be rejected for no reason then the same ones accepted later; it seems like it’s just luck of the draw at times so I figured I’d take this one to the community.

Thank you for your help on this, I’ll use your advice for future nominations!
This post can be closed if need be.

All good. And the topics generally stay open you might be able to update us with some successful nominations.
If you want some specific assistance with Brinny or RV I am happy to help.
