Appeal of Misplaced Location Warning - Accurate Wayspot With Verifiable Location

Hello Niantic Team,

I am submitting an appeal regarding the “misplaced location” warning issued for my Wayspot nomination “Cafe Cafe Signage’’.

The nomination was placed based on the actual, real-world position of the cafe at Texas Inn, Sibu, Sarawak. The location is verifiable via Google Street View (October 2024), where the “Cafe Cafe” signage is clearly visible at the front of the building, confirming both the existence and the publicly accessible position of the cafe.

The slight discrepancy between the submitted coordinates and the current pin location is most likely due to normal GPS inaccuracy in an indoor/urban environment. As the cafe is located within a building structure, satellite signal limitations and map alignment can result in minor positional drift of a few meters. This is consistent with known limitations of GPS accuracy and does not indicate intentional misplacement.

Additionally, it is possible that the pin location was adjusted during the community review process, which may have contributed to the current offset.

I would like to emphasize that:

  • The nomination reflects a real and permanent point of interest
  • The location submitted was made in good faith and based on the best available positioning at the time
  • Any positional variance is minor and unintentional

I respectfully request a review of this case, including the supporting visual evidence, and ask for the removal of the warning associated with this nomination.

Thank you for your time and consideration.

The coordinates where you submitted the pin will be in the submission email just below the photos. If you would like the community to weigh in as to how inaccurate this pin was, please provide a screenshot of the submission coordinates. Example:

Hello and welcome @SkySibu0531
Its not obvious the best place to post a query.
I am moving this to the General Discussion area as that is the best fit.

Thanks for writing in @SkySibu0531 ,

I have reviewed this submission and have decided to revoke any enforcements caused because of this submission.

Thanks,

Just to be clear, its better if you dont rely on gps (where you stood) when you submit. Especially if its inside building. Instead, you should manually move the pin yourself for every submission. This will prevent similar issue from happening.
