Appeal POI removal decision for dangerous POI

When submitting a Wayspot Appeal, make sure to include as much of the following information as possible:

  • Wayspot Title: Claremont Court Gate and Stree

  • Location (lat/lon): 37.85918° N, 122.24528° W

  • City: Berkeley

  • Country: USA

  • Screenshot of the Rejection Email (do not include your personal information):

  • Additional Information (if any): There are two serious problems with this POI. The first is that cars block a fire hydrant when players are battling in raids. Second, groups of players block the gate and sidewalk, so pedestrians have to walk around the gate and into the busy street rather than push themselves through the crowd and narrow gate. I’m worried someone will be struck by a car.

If vehicles are breaking the law, i suggest you contact your local authorities. But those arent reason for waypoint removal.

We have been instructed that fire hydrants are to be considered as emergency services unless they have been de-commissioned. I thought the problem was vehicles blocking the hydrant, and denial of the POI was the solution.

Isn’t there a safe distance for pin-placement, similar to POIs near fire departments? This one seems awfully near…

I want to highlight that the hydrant is one issue, but the bigger issue is that players often block the gate and force runners and pedestrians to walk around the gate into the very busy street. It bothers me that irritated pedestrians might blame it on the Pokemon game.

Thanks for the appeal, @Poppydoodah. We took another look at the Wayspot in question and decided that it does not meet our criteria for removal at this time.
