Submitted an appeal for the waypoint I made, which would be a great addition to my local area:
Name: Symonds Court, Charminster Bus Stop
Location (lat/lon): 50.731170, -2.451035 Google Maps
City: Charminster, Dorchester
Country: United kingdom
Wayspot description: The bus stop at Symonds Court, Charminster is run by South West Coaches on behalf of Dorset Council. The CR5 bus route is a socially essential service which runs from Dorchester, through Charminster to Yeovil. This bus service is essential to the local area, as it provides transport for the elderly and those who cannot drive. Next to the bus stop is a bench for socialising. As of 2011, the village has a population of 2,940 people.
I have attached pictures from the submission as well as the rejection email. I am so disappointed that I have had to appeal, considering I spent a good amount of time to ensure that I submitted properly. It also frustrates me that bigger areas I have seen have bus stops for way spots or train shelters, but mine is rejected? My area has very little wayspots, and this would be a great way to play the game locally with this addition. It would promote more socialising in my village, for sure. Also to note, there are tags for “transit stop” and “bus terminal” which a bus stop should fall under… So again, it doesn’t make sense.
Your appeal has been rejectee which is a correct decision.
Bus stops are basic infrastructure which makes it in ineligible.
If you see other bus stops as pokestops on the map these might have been wrongfully rejected or are imported tested wayspots by Niantic that do not follow criteria.
Topic here:
Never take pokestops that are already on the map as examples that are eligible. Only take the current criteria as guidance.
As the other comment says, bus stops by themselves are not typically eligible. Bus stations (such as Yeovil Bus Station, where this route departs from) can be eligible as they’re a transport hub, but individual stops on a route are not typically acceptable.
Yes, I submitted via the way finder website and looked extensively, but couldn’t really see anything that would rule this out. It’s honestly a real shame, seeing as there are cities and more urban areas with multiple waystops within a 5m radius of each other, but a real lack of waystops for rural areas (such as my own).
I can understand having multiple bus stops wouldn’t be appropriate, but at the same time for players in a rural community, it makes things harder.
Submitting this sign by the entrance would be good. Hopefully you can get a time without cars in the way.
There also seems to be a shelter or something I have circled in red tgat has potential.
This shows the layout of cells. The entrance and the sign for it are approx in yellow box that should create a pokestop. If the red circled object is a shelter or a picnic area or distinct feature not the regular play equipment then that could be a second pokestop. The blue circle picks out an established pokestop which means the box it is in will not allow a wayspot to become a pokestop.
The NCN route markers are good submissions.
Please do ask and we can advise further on the details needed.
You need to not only look for things that rule it out, but also things that rule it in.
Acceptance Criteria
Nominations and edit submissions must meet all of the following acceptance criteria:
Must meet at least one of the three eligibility criteria
A great place for exploration
A great place for exercise
A great place to be social with others
Must be a permanent physical, tangible, and identifiable place or object, or object that placemarks an area
Must be safe and publicly accessible by pedestrians (indoor or outdoor)
Must contain accurate information in the title, description, and photo
The issue here is not meeting any of the three eligibility criteria (exploration, exercise, socialising). I know you mentioned it has a bench, but I do not feel that is hitting the mark of being a “great place to socialise”.
