Appeal to Restore Removed Wayspot: Skate en Basket

Hello Niantic Wayfarer Team,
I am writing to appeal the removal of the following Wayspot, as I believe it was removed in error and still meets all eligibility criteria for the platform. This pokestop has been there since the beginning of the game and is crucial for our comunity.

  • City: Haarlem
  • Country: Netherlands
  • Additional Information:
    This location serves as a prominent local landmark and a well-established social hub for the neighborhood. It is a dedicated pedestrian area, completely separated from vehicle traffic, making it an exceptionally safe environment for community gatherings, outdoor exercise, and social interaction. Its open layout encourages neighbors to meet and explore the architectural and natural surroundings of the area.
    The spot is located in a high-visibility pedestrian zone with 24/7 safe access. It is not on private residential property nor near any sensitive locations like schools. It functions as a vital point of interest that promotes local exploration and serves as a safe meeting point for various community groups. The area is well-lit and perfectly maintained, fulfilling all criteria for a permanent social anchor.

It is not at the coordinates you have provided but you can see the position it is at on the map which is an occupied cell so it does not appear.
I’m not sure if there is enough evidence in your photos to show the exact current location. I can see a small structure and the basketball hoop on Satelitte view. You may need some further photos and ensure they have the geotag included to prove the location.

Odd. It doesn’t appear to have been moved (comparing to the other game) nor does the other wayspot in that cell appear to have moved, so it’s difficult to explain why the other wayspot is the pokestop when you say this one used to be.

It would have to move to the coordinates you gave to appear as a pokestop, but this can only be done if the current location is inaccurate, which will be hard to prove.

I have attached geotagged photos that show the exact physical position of the basketball hoop and the surrounding skate area. You can verify these landmarks via the latest satellite imagery and the attached evidence.

if the wayspot was the basketball hoop, the move would be required and correct. As it represents both the hoop and the skate ramp, it can be located at either of those and appears to be located at the skate ramp, meaning it cannot be moved.

Is it possible it is just a “2 in a cell” eventually being re-calculated?

Thank you for your feedback. I think that is exactly what happened, somebody applied for another point in the same cell.

Currently, neither of the two Wayspots is visible in the games, which suggests a synchronization conflict.

I want to emphasize that “Skate en Basket” is the original and primary landmark of this location. It is a large, permanent sports facility and a well-established social hub. In contrast, the recently added point is a simple tile on the sidewalk with no space for social interaction or physical activity.

Since the sports facility is the most significant point of interest for local residents and visitors, it should be the primary visible landmark. The current “overlap” has effectively removed a high-quality community asset from the map.

Which is the recently added wayspot? Wayfarer and Ingress appear to match, suggesting everything showing is at least 10 months old.

The Wayspot “Skate and Basket” disappeared around January. That is why I thought it was recently added.

However, Skate en Basket has moved!

Now at (52.376789,4.644450), previously at 52.376781, 4.644349 (approx), requested to be moved to 52.376741, 4.644460.
