Appealing rejected gym removal

When submitting a Wayspot Appeal, make sure to include as much of the following information as possible:

  • Wayspot Title: Dried Up Fountain

  • Location (lat/lon): 53.438348, -113.607419

***mod edit to correct the coordinates

  • City: Edmonton

  • Country: Canada

  • Screenshot of the Rejection Email (do not include your personal information):

  • Additional Information (if any):

This Wayspot indicates a location inside a Home Depot store and should not be eligible because it is not a permanent fixture.

This fountain was originally an item for sale inside the Home Depot store and the actual fountain in the title was removed or sold years ago. The two photos associated with this Wayspot were taken 7-10 years ago and you can clearly see that it is inside the store:

Even the officially accepted description of the Wayspot indicates it is not permanent and at some point was titled to be in a Five Guys burger restaurant??

I submitted a report about this a year ago after the Wayspot was promoted to become a gym, as it reflects badly on Pokemon Go to have a gym be a POI that does not exist. However, it was auto-rejected. I tried again last week and got the same rejection. I just found out this forum is the best place to appeal this. Please see if it meets your criteria for removal as this location does not exist.

Hello And welcome @GIZhou88

Thanks for trying to tidy up the database.

I have edited to include the correct coords :smiling_face_with_sunglasses:

In order to remove this from the database the wayfarer team normally require some proof of the current situation.

Some photos with geotag data to show that it is not at the location now.

So if you can go into the nursery section and take some photos to show it is not there that will improve your case.

Welcome to the forums

The removal criteria are different to the acceptance criteria. Something that appears to be a completely ineligible object (as this does) can be hard to get removed because that is not sufficient for removal.

Photos to prove it is no longer there, as @elijustrying said, are the best way forward.

Hi, @GIZhou88! Due to insufficient evidence, we’re unable to remove the Wayspot in question. If you have additional evidence to share, like geotagged images or photosphere, please submit a new appeal with additional information, and we’ll take another look.

Thank you all for your helpful responses. Sorry I did not have a chance to go back to that Home Depot earlier, but I now got the photos you requested. I stood next to the gym in the game and took photos in 4 directions:
