Resubmitting rejected gym removal appeal with additional information

I realized that NianticLC requested I submit a new appeal from this previous thread here:

  • Wayspot Title: Dried Up Fountain

  • Location (lat/lon): 53.438348, -113.607419

***mod edit to correct the coordinates

  • City: Edmonton

  • Country: Canada

  • Screenshot of the Rejection Email (do not include your personal information):

  • Additional Information (if any):

This Wayspot indicates a location inside a Home Depot store and the fountain should not be eligible because it was a retail item to be sold and not a permanent fixture.

This fountain was originally an item for sale inside the Home Depot store and the actual fountain in the title was removed or sold years ago. The two photos associated with this Wayspot were taken 7-10 years ago and you can clearly see that it is inside the store:

Even the officially accepted description of the Wayspot indicates it is not permanent and at some point was titled to be in a Five Guys burger restaurant?

I have taken photos with geotags as requested. I stood next to the gym in the game and took photos in 4 directions on Jan 22, 2026:

Good luck with this.

I don’t see GPS tags on these photos you have taken.

They should still be in the metadata

Thanks for the appeal @GIZhou88 , we have removed the Wayspot in question. You should see these changes reflected soon.

Thanks @NianticAaron ! I recently drove by the Home Depot and the gym has been removed.

I am all for having more gyms and stops in Pokémon Go, but I feel that if the Wayspot in the game doesn’t exist in real life, it reflects badly on the game. Thankfully there is still another legitimate gym just a few hundred metres away.

This Dried Up Fountain Wayspot has been around for years and maybe wasn’t meant to be a serious submission way back when. When it was just a PokéStop, it wasn’t so noticeable, but when it was promoted to become a gym last year, it became very obvious.
