I spent the best part of 2 and a bit hours for a couple of Wayspot nominations and left with 16 in total. One of them was a off chance discovery, and wasn’t sure if they were still eligible.
(I suspect this would get rejected because of the license plate on the car on the right hand side, but the question is the principle of these being accepted or not).
Although there’s a split over eligibility, I think it was also wrapped up in Ingress faction wars. I’d tend to vote for them if they are Victorian, but if they go to appeal then Niantic would likely reject them.
Also, there can be blooming difficult to frame in a photograph..
I’ll submit the one I have. I know where it is if I need to get a better picture without the faux pas license plate…. in hope that it would just about be acceptabe.
I know I could have photograph this one a lot better, but didn’t want to intrude on the house too much.
I know some of the history behind this and they that could have some unique value with them for either the country or people, but I vote to reject these in my opinion.
I don’t think many people share my opinion, but I find there too many to find them unique enough to accept with exploration criteria.
Whilst I appreciate your viewpoint, would you reject all VR, GR5, GR6, ER7 and ER8 postboxes because there are a lot around? Would you also reject Trailmarkers because they are not unique?
I understand your point, but if you apply that principle to Stinkpipes, do you apply it to every other instances?
I’m not a fan of the arrow trailmarkers, mainly because I don’t know which ones are real and which ones are not. So I just now skip those ones. I only focused on named trails and something that can ideally be backed up with some documented evidence of a trail.
I never get postboxes to review so I wouldn’t know. If I do get them to review I would skip, don’t have a clear knowledge about them to either reject or accept.
I have submitted almost over a 100 trailmarkers and I vote to accept these, because they hit multiple of the core criteria even though they are clearly not unique. And also to be honest I hate submitting them, but I know they are acceptable, so more waypoints for our area
These so called “stinkpipes” are also very country based if you know what I mean.
I do have a bit of history with specific country things. In the Netherlands we have our numbered bicycle trails, and they are considered “basic infrastructure” which I truly hate. Applying this too these country specifics I would also call stinkpipes basic infrastructure, maybe even postboxes, but don’t know about those. I just skip them
The Stinkpipes in the UK are very different to Bike Trails. These are historic and disused in the UK. I don’t know much about the Stinkpipes in the Netherlands, but they are not very common in the UK.
I get that stinkpipes are very different but in my opinion, if The Netherlands does not get its country specifics (our bike trails) why should other countries get their country specifics, in this case being stinkpipes and postboxes. Very unfair in my opinion.
I don’t even know if our country has stinkpipes, even if in my country I would reject those too.
I haven’t been to the Netherlands in about 40 years, so I have to assume no knowledge of what is acceptable or not, and what is and what isn’t rare. I am sure there are a lot of historical artefacts that can be found in the Netherlands. If there aren’t, blame your Government, not the Brits. Sorry if I am appearing to be defensive or attacking, not intentional, but I don’t think it’s fair that people reject things because it’s not rare in their country.
There almost no historical artifacts, and yeah I blame the goverment for that.
It’s no problem for being defensive or attacking.
If I come over as “attacking” please say so, then I will step away from the coversation with my pretty fierce opinion.
If called unfair then all country specifics should be accepted, especially our numbered bike routes, they meet core criteria in multiple ways. If not accepted like now then I will hold my strong opinion about rejecting country specifics, in this case UK’s stinkpipes and maybe postboxes.
