Auto-Reject and the Selection Process

G
I recently submitted these wayfarer spot, and I went accordingly to the criteria perhaps though I might not have categorized them Correctly but I know they fit the criteria. What can I do to get these approved? Please help me thanks.

These (besides the first one) all seem to be placed at emergency services where they could cause issues, at first glance so that makes them ineligible.

If you think I am wrong, please do let me know.

Ehm. Hospital is kind of tricky. Especially that sign telling where emergency vehicles only and big red emergency trauma center…you might want to read wayfarer criteria again.

Location obstructs the driveways of emergency services or may interfere with the operations of fire stations, police stations, hospitals, military bases, industrial sites, power plants, or air traffic control towers

Have to agree with all of the hospital ones being ineligible, as they may obstruct emergency services. The directional signs are also typically ineligible.

As for the first one, that just seems like some indistinct landscaping, not an actual garden, so I don’t see it as being eligible. Gardens that are typically eligible are botanical gardens, arboretums, community planting gardens and the like. These can be great places to explore and possibly be social at, whereas normal landscaping is just to make an area look nicer and is pretty common in many places.

I would recommend looking over the Wayspot Criteria again to know what may or may not be eligible, as well as the Criteria Clarification Collection for more examples. If you haven’t read the Rejection Criteria yet, make sure to do so as well.

Hello. Based on these submissions, I am going to assume that you’ve never read the Wayfarer criteria. Please forgive me if that is a wrong assumption, but most of them so blatantly do not meet criteria that it’s hard to think otherwise.

But that’s OK! Everyone has to start somewhere.

I highly recommend that you read the Wayfarer help pages to understand:

Then you can come back here to review all the posts in the Criteria Clarification Collection

You can also load a review in Wayfarer and read all the help text behind the voting questions to understand what issues lead us to reject a submission.

This is the information shown for “Appropriate”

Ok I totally understand and I’ve reviewed over and over and over but I guess from A business perspective, I different, but I am Choosing locations That are rest areas for the nominations. Such as pic one (1) that is i nominated as is a Rest Area … the field and Gardening wall retainer. There’s just not a name place there indicating such. Parking garage with a field next to it. It doesn’t get any simpler than social interactions. That’s why I nominated these areas cause I work in the area and see there’s a place full of players (trainers) hiding and they need a voice. I’m just the voice they voted for!:joy:

I would encourage you to tell the others about the criteria as well, so that they know what can and cannot be submitted, and what may or may not be eligible. Share the links that we have shared with you.

Yes, there are many at hospitals that would like more Wayspots there in order to play the games, but they have to follow criteria first and foremost. For example, art is typically eligible, but the art piece that you submitted looks like it’s at the admitting entrance for the ER possibly. Being near the ER would make it ineligible, as players could possibly obstruct emergency services.

Directional signs around a hospital or any other area are not great places to be social/exercise/explore. Some think they meet the exploration criteria, but they are just directing you to where you may need to go on the campus, and those areas may not meet exploration criteria; most people are not going to exploring around a radiation treatment area, a surgery center, and a behavioral health area.

Like I noted about the first one, it’s not a garden, it’s just landscaping to make te area look more pleasing; I wouldn’t be surprised if there are others like this around the campus, or other planted areas that are similar. There’s no field here worth exploring either, like a sports field would (great place to get some exercise and be social), just a grassy area, which again is a part of the landscaping. Retaining walls are part of infrastructure and landscaping, usually holding up soil in a lateral way so that it doesn’t slope downwards, and allows for landscaping plants to be added.

If you are looking for POIs that may be eligible on the grounds of a hospital, first make sure that they don’t obstruct emergency services. Next, look for things like outdoor picnic areas, unique art that could be in waiting rooms and lounge areas, gift/food shops (like a coffee shop), decorative fountains, etc. Here’s a few examples from the hospitals that are in my area.

Oh I love it! Thank you for those ideas as my cafeteria would’ve been great. But here’s One that got denied and I can’t understand why because it’s a floating piece of work/art in a dining area. Is it the verbiage that I’m also using or maybe under the category is wrong?

You’re very informative thank you?

This look interesting. I see table below as well. So it might fall in socialization element. The only issue u nd to address is where is the ER. Emergency access takes priority over anything else.

You’re welcome!

This looks like it may be eligible, and it’s possible that it could be something with the wording in the title/description/supporting info, or even with ML or reviewers not being able to envision this being where you said it is. Feel free to post the nomination for this, and we’ll be glad to take a look and see if any improvements can be made.

Oh, and if you do know the name of the art piece and the artist’s name, that’s always good to use.

Yeah… the ER is on ground level the cafeteria and eating are is underground. It’s designed in a way where precedence takes place above. I took some new photos, when I go back I’ll try again. I’ll also shoot in for the gift shop and unique electronic coffee shop! :+1:t5:

Imo the eligibility of this is a no-brainer, height isn’t a problem at all, and categories shouldn’t matter at all either. If this is an ML reject, it’s possibly about it being hard to take a distinct photo of it where there isn’t too much building background.

I am curious to know what details you will add here. Personally, they look like sickle cells but I don’t see hematology in their list of services.

If the submission is for the art, focus on it. Simply located within the dining space may indicate the location may be allowed but is not directly related towards the socialization aspect of the art itself IMO.

Is the cafeteria right below the ER? This could be an issue, as if accepted as a Wayspot, it could be in the ER and could possibly be considered obstructing emergency services.

Looking at Google Maps, it appears that the ER entrance is around 33.60861646360882, -112.1791911771583. It also appears that one entire tower may be for the ER, as I can see the helipads on the top of the roof, but can’t tell if that’s correct. Those could be patient care rooms, but this is also a trauma ER center, so it could have a good deal of space as well.

I did take a look around, just outside of the hospital, and there does appear to be an outdoor seating area near the main entrance that doesn’t have a Wayspot yet, over at 33.60955302262368, -112.17957063906313. There appears to be some shade structures here, so there may be some seating, too. There’s another similar one at 33.609263761411846, -112.18101412094697. These aren’t near the ER, so they should be safely accessible, and may be eligible.

Wow, thank you guys for that breakdown. It really helps. I’ll be going back in tonight trying different spots. The hospital is pretty large so the ER is pretty spacious. We have so many different play areas for children. I have submitted a couple and waiting for review. The thing is here it can be very tricky but I’m trying. This one got rejected.

That plaque is mass-produced and can be purchased online. A Google Lens search brought it up for sale on Amazon, so it’s not a unique piece of art.

As for the seating area with the tiles, that looks like it could be some kind of memorial for those that have lost their lives, or even a meditation garden, an area to get some quiet time. I would focus more on the seating area and tiles in the main photo, not the butterfly plaque, and describe it as a place of remembrance and/or meditation/prayer; this would make it more appealing, and may be a great place to both explore and be social at.

Ok I’ll try for this one again with a different photo. Unfortunately they way our hospital appears via images and map it makes it looks like the whole place is the ED but really not …

This for example appears like it’s the ED or Addmiting area but it’s not it’s actually the north entrance with a huge space that includes a coffee shop on one side and the gift shop on the other along with a chapel on one side and murals everywhere around. That’s just one of the biggest and a directional sign indicating to follow to the admitting area but the it doesn’t look like it unless you’re there physically.

Where I circled blue is where that giant mural is and the emergency room is on the south entrance while they have the north/main entrance as a lounging area…
