Auto rejected but meets all criteria

Hi! I’m struggling to understand why this was auto rejected. It just said it didn’t meet all of the criteria but there was no explanation on what was missing.

Welcome to the forum @OhHeyCase

Whilst little free libraries can be eligible if they’re not in a location that disqualifies their eligibility, little free pantries are viewed as more of a sensitive location by the wayfarer community, and so they aren’t typically seen as eligible.

In addition to this, the little free pantry you’ve tried to submit appears to be on single family private residential property, which would prevent it from being acceptable even if it otherwise did meet the criteria.

Thank you for the information!

There are several little free libraries located on single family homes and even just homes in this neighborhood that have wayfarer points.

LFLs on SFPRP (single-family private residential property) sometimes get accepted by the community (needs more pokestopz) but can be reported for removal.

Not everything you see in the game should have been accepted.

Just out of interest I did take a look at the FLL in the area and the 3 that I found, with a UK perspective would likely be Rejected as SFPRP.

I do not know the local boundary laws in your area so it may differ.

“Meets all criteria”… it meets at least 2 rejection criteria (sensitive location and being at someone’s house)!

I think it’s worth revisiting the criteria including the rejection criteria.

This isn’t really a good place to socialise, exercise or explore like a little free library, which can promote a kind of socialising with sharing stories, and explore because reading and education can link to explore. Instead its a place where people who cannot afford food can get some help. That’s very different. I would not submit this again.

You did say it meets all criteria - it’s in the title of this thread

Automated rejections do not come with detailed explanations. This is probably because Niantic do not want to give details of what the ML system checks and how it checked, as the more details they provide, the easier for people to abuse the system.

Whoops! I was looking at the body of my post. The pantry is owned by a nonprofit so not a single family, but I understand the sensitivity of the pantry.

It’s not the ownership of the pantry that matters, but the location of it, as far as SFPRP is concerned.

I think every time I’ve seen this discussion of the food pantries, the discussion has gone the same way: that they are not good places to socialise, exercise or explore, and should be rejected as a sensitive location due to the nature of what they’re for ie people who are struggling to afford food.

Although they visually look a lot like little free libraries, using a library like this would be a nice experience I think, sharing books with the local community, nothing to do with money worries or any sort of stress. The pantry on the other hand? Would likely feel quite different.
