Wayspot rejected - but similar one accepted?

Wayspot Title: Fahrenheit 451 Little Free Library

Location (lat/lon): 40.495693, -80.051698

City: Bellevue, PA

Country: USA

Additional Information (if any):

I submitted two little libaries near me to be wayspots. Both of these are near a home, but very close to the sidewalk so you do not have to enter the property to access it. One of these was accepted with no issues. But this second one was rejected. I do not understand the difference. The second one is near a public bus stop too. There are many similar little libraries in the area already with wayspots. So I would like to appeal the rejection of this specific one.

Accepted:

Rejected:

As it looks like these are both on “Single Family Private Residence Property” they should have both been rejected.

If the “Accepted” one gets reported Niantic will remove it.

Also noticed that the Rejected one is also close to a hydrant which is another reason to reject.

We no longer have an up to date map of waypoints, you can check when you see the map as you nominate (you have to be at the location and make sure the switch is on).

Parks are places where you can often get more than one waypoint, have you checked “Bayne Park” (Library, Gazebo)?

Maple Street Park?

Good luck.

Hello and welcome @strawbanya

It’s not always obvious where you should post on the forum. This appeals area is for special categories.

I am going to move this to nomination support as it looks as though you might need some assistance.

This part is not necessarily true… theres plenty of room to stand at that waypoint without obstructing the hydrant

Accepted, but I think many reviewers could Reject under the “Crowd Gathers to Raid, Blocks Emergency Services”.

Was more thinking of reasons why it was Rejected, obviously the biggie is SFPRP but the Hydrant may have been another.

This is the clarification about LFL

If a LFL is on Single Family Private Residential Property even by inches it is not acceptable.

It doesn’t matter that you can stand on a walkway and use it, it is not allowed.

So both are not acceptable.

Perhaps you have other things in your area you can nominate, we can help check them with you.

Being on SFPRP meets removal criteria.

I do understand the private residence reason. my confusion comes from seeing multiple little libraries in my neighborhood that are similarly on the edge of someone’s yard, and are existing Pokestops. That’s why I submitted the two little libraries that I did. The rules say one thing, but the accepted submissions say another. It almost seems like there’s no rhyme or reason, as with both of these very similar submissions i did having different outcomes.

(thank you for your replies!)

Common quote on the forums is “Never use existing wayspots as evidence that they are eligible”.

Criteria changes.

Things get through that shouldn’t.

Mistakes happen.

Sometimes reviewers wrongly accept wayspots.

The ones that are on SFPRP, can be removed. There may be some that are not actually on PRP and they can remain.

By nominating waypoints that meet criteria you will be reducing the impact if one day the ones on SFPRP are reported and they disappear. :frowning:
