Auto Rejection Request for Thoughts

Hello! I had recently posted a request for advice on a nomination I made that was rejected by human reviewers, and I first want to thank everyone who gave input for that.

This post aims to get advice on another nomination I had made that was rejected by Emily once, then rejected by her a second time after a resubmission attempt.

Once again, I really only want to take in everyone’s viewpoint on

  • what is good about the nomination
  • what is bad about the nomination
  • why the reason for rejection occurred and if that reason itself is valid in your opinion
  • suggestions for improvements

so I won’t be trying to defend anything in this thread and aim to see what people think just by looking for themselves. But if you would like any clarification on specifics related to the wayspot, I’d be more than happy to try and elaborate.

Thanks in advance! Hoping to get some insight this time about Emily’s reasoning.

I would struggle to identify what you are actually nominating.

Imaging the sign usually is just an anchor for the actual waypoint and just “where 2 water courses come together” doesn’t sound like it meets criteria.

Is there anything official at the “Fishing Spot”?

Any picnic areas?

I love a good fishing spot and would welcome those on the map. However, this sign does not actually indicate a single fishing spot. It’s 3 mile long canal, along which people can fish or boat. I think this is basically infrastructure.

I don’t think there’s anything like what you’re describing there, no. Just the sign, a sort of diamond pattern concrete area, some trees, and a grass field. It sits adjacent to the parking lot of a Five Guys that has some shaded outdoor seating a few yards from the grass.
In reality, the sign was what I thought would make for a good anchor point as you had said. The couple hundred feet on either side of that sign is where people choose to gather prey much every day for fishing. You’ll see bikes lying on the grass and groups of people tossing out a line and chatting all the time. If you go to the left of the sign, there’s that diamond patterned concrete forming a sort of riverside walking area leading underneath a road bridge where you can fish out of the sun.
I’m not certain if you happen to be asking for more specifics on the two bodies of water, but I’ll give a brief bit on it just in case. Safety Harbor makes up the very northern tip of Tampa Bay, which leads into the Gulf of Mexico. Lake Tarpon is the single largest body of freshwater in the Tampa Bay Area, and Tarpon Canal connects the two basically in the general area of this sign. There’s a water processing dam if you follow the canal to the left of the sign that regulates that flow.

I hope I’ve described the area well enough here. Thanks for your input so far!

Hello! Thanks for sharing your thoughts on the ambiguity of the nomination. I think it’s helpful to know that it seems that way. I gave some additional detail in a response to SlimboyFat71 above that I hope helps give more context to the scene. Please give that a read if you can.
You’re right though, this spot wouldn’t really be known to anyone not local since there’s no indicator of some sort. If it’s very well known to us in the area though and basically visited by groups of people every day, is there a good way of conveying that to the reviewers here so that they understand it actually is a fishing spot? I thought that it’s a relatively dark grey area having people in your shots, even if it’s just the supporting one.

Unfortunately, it sounds like the fishing is a no go. It’s not an area for fishing it’s just an area where people fish (if that makes sense). There is nothing you can image that shows that it is a fishing spot.

To put in in the context of a location that is an easy accept, kids will play on any bit of land but it doesn’t make it a playpark.

That’s a good explanation, very helpful too. I can see the difference of what you mean. Unfortunate, but makes sense.
