Hi, ive tried everything to get a wayspot at my student union and its always auto-rejected. WHY? I could understand some reviewers voting against it because everyone has opinions, but it baffles me that i cant even submit it to them at all. Even by completely switching the pictures I get auto-rejected. Is there a word im using that prompts auto-rejection or something ?
In Québec a College is higher education than high school, and a Student Union is a legitimite registered non-profit business.
For the main photo ive tried a raw version and ive tried photoshopped versions to edit out some details that i thought might have been the problem. Ive also tried 2 completely different pictures and changed slightly the title and description to fit those when i did :
For the surrounding photos ive tried the hallway and I even tried with no succes a picture from completely outside the school to make sure it passes through whatever the auto-reject is seeing :
Heres the description :
Heres the submited explanation :
Cette œuvre originale est le graffiti central d’un mur situé dans les locaux ouverts de l’AGECLG, l’association étudiante du cégep Lionel-Groulx. Ces locaux sont accessibles à tout le monde durant les heures d’activité du collège et sont très fréquentés au quotidien. L’endroit est reconnu comme un espace inclusif pour la communauté étudiante, et des services méconnus comme de l’aide alimentaire y sont offerts. L’œuvre est pour sa part permanente et met en valeur le talent artistique des étudiants!
Thank you very much in advance for helping me getting through the auto-rejection nightmare. My Wayspot idea is really cool with a really professional description and i feel like its a real shame to threat it that way.
Your main photos look like graffiti to me, and possibly to the automated process. Your supporting photos do not show the art, so it is impossible to give you an idea on a different way you could try taking the photo. My suggestion would be to back up the main photo to give a better context that this is permanent art, and show where this art is located with a supporting photo that includes the art.
Once a submission has been rejected by the ML system, don’t retry with the same photo as it will automatically reject it again.
Your initial photos will almost certainly guarantee rejection, as it isn’t possible to tell what this is. It could be a drawing on paper. If it is a mural on a wall, then your photo must show that it is a mural on a wall.
Also, the supporting photo should contain the POI, not just show the area near it. If you don’t include the POI in the supporting photo, it isn’t possible to confirm it exists there.
Hi, thank you for the welcome. It is a graffiti that we have and its true that I could try a supporting photo that shows the art from further away if you think thats the problem
I agree that the main and supporting photos need to be improved upon. If this is a mural, it seems like it’s larger than just 1 character (Sailor Moon appears to the right, so why not include the full mural). You should try to show the entire mural instead of one part, if possible.
And the supporting photo should show the POi with the surrounding area, not just the surrounding area. I have no idea that this is in the student union from any of your photos, as none of the photos show the mural with the surrounding area. It’s important to show the POI within the surrounding area, especially for indoor POIs, so we can do our best to place it as being where you say it is.
I would recommend considering taking several supporting photos showing the POI in the area, and then using the new web submission to resubmit this. Web submissions allow up to 5 supporting photos instead of the 1 that only PoGo allows, so it may be helpful in this situation. More info about web submissions can be found here:
Imagine you don’t know what this is (put yourself in the shoes of a reviewer) and you are presented with the first photo that you posted here. Ignore any claims that are made about it - just look at the photo and ask yourself “what does it look like?”.
I think you would also need to confirm the permanence of this as well. Is there a good chance that it is likely to be removed / painted over at the end of the school year?
You would need to somehow show proof this is not the case.
We can’t say for sure why ML rejected; if we knew, then some could try to work around these rejections and possibly submit abusive nominations.
I do want to add some info from the Unique Art clarification that may be helpful. Graffiti can be seen as vandalism, as something that was illegally put up. This to me doesn’t appear to be vandalism, so here’s some further info that may be helpful:
