sorry I can’t fit the entire thing in a screen capture.
This was rejected under other / influencing reviewers. Only thing I can think of is a line where I asked that it be designated as first floor because in this stairwell there are multiple murals, one in each floor, that I intend on submitting.
Hello,
What did you provide for the supporting text? I see Influencing Reviewers is one of the rejection reasons, so if you mentioned any game terms in the supporting info, that could be why it was rejected. Mind sharing that, along with the title?
I also find the photo to be off-center, not orientated the best. I would have also put VA instead of va for grammar reasons, so someone could have also rejected for the description, being a little too snobby about grammar.
Also, there is no way to designate floors with the Lightship map. Everything that is approved can be accessed from the ground floor, even if they are on the 10th floor, for example.
There was a comment on the old forum that some people took to mean that referencing the games could be considered “Influencing Reviewers” so some people are using that to reject when the supporting statement is about why this would be good for Pokemon Go. (That statement was taken out of context, and we never even saw the supporting text it referred to.) I would also like to see your supporting section.
hmm… it was probably asking for the floor designation then. idk what caused the “other rejection criteria” rejection. i would probably just resubmit - hopefully with a better centered photo - and leave out the request.
i usually take my photos before i begin my submission fwiw, and straighten or crop them as needed. that does seem like a difficult angle to photograph.
That’s probably a good idea, especially with how often ingress crashes during the nomination submission process. I ended up having to attempt this 3 times before I finally got it to go through.
I don’t even try to submit in the field. The remote range in Ingress is so huge, i can come home and connect to wifi. Then I can really see my photos well to evaluate which are best.
I don’t think Wayfarer does anything with z-axis (altitude or floor level). Consequently we won’t see multiple POIs from different floors in the same stairwell, unless there are very fortuitous S-17 cells or 20 meters horizontal separation between them.
@eneeoh has an excellent point. Multiple vertical nominations may be very difficult. I think each could be eligible, but if they are all essentially on the same horizontal spot (same latitude, longitude), people may be confused.
Hopefully they could all be accepted to Lightship database and each game could pick and choose by their inclusion rules. That is the best and hopefully actual outcome.
I just hope you are prepared to fight for these spots!
I just noticed it was also flagged as temporary/ seasonal / not distinct. Which is so incorrect, just all of that is so wrong. I myself am a reviewer, I forget what the qualifying criteria was but is the bar really very low? I don’t think I have ever had any sort of quiz I had to pass maybe some standards need to be put in place and some re-testing to continue to review because honestly some of these rejections are bonkers.
I dont think its fair to blame reviewers on this one. You have to remember the burden of proof lies on the submitter. You call this a mural bit provide no proof this is painted as opposed to being a vinyl/wall paper/graphic that isnt unique. You credit no artist. I dont blame reviewers for cpming to the conclusion that this is potentially just a massed produced graphic and thus “not distinct”.
Lol, so the second support photo, which also includes the stairwell I photoshopped that all into frame? Along with the wording in the first photo and the glare from the lighting in the first photo?
Just no, not even close. You can come look at it, Brockton VA medical center 940 Belmont St Brockton MA building 2 stairwell first floor.
You also are using the wrong definition of distinct. Niantic defines distinct in the ability to identify the object in that particular space. So according to their definition a red pole in a line of blue poles is in fact distinct. Which is in fact a reason there should be testing.
I never said it was fake, just that its not a “mural”. And its not unique eligible art.
I highly doubt Niantic uses the terminology that each piece of artwork has to be truly unique to be eligible also. Otherwise there would be a lot less artwork as portals and I have seen an awful lot of ice cream artwork that’s all eerily similar that are portals. I think you are setting your own standard here.
As far as it being a mural here is the definition: mural, a painting applied to and made integral with the surface of a wall or ceiling Mural | Definition, History, Technique, & Facts - Britannica

No, I’m not making up my own standard… but like you said, maybe thats why there should be a test.
Like i said earlier, there is no evidence this is a painting. Given its a stock photo, its more than likely a print.
I can see this being in several VA buildings easily, especially VA clinics/hospitals. There’s a VA hospital where I live, but there’s no Wayspots for anything like this there. They do have a lovely outdoor area with a pergola, memorials to different conflicts, etc, that has Wayspots.
Not that hard to find a stock image, add some text, make it into a large wall decal, and install in several locations. Quite a cheap way to liven up areas.
No evidence it’s a mural, you are funny. Like I said come see it. You think I photoshopped the words, stairwell, glare from the lights, piece of railing and all the other things in frame.
You keep putting words in my mouth… i said theres no evidence its painted. This looks like something printed, on either vinyl or wallpaper and applied. And thus it would not be a mural.
