When I started doing Wayfarer, i thought building an empty field into an area with good wayspot for local community to grow might be the best thing, but after reviewing for a while, I might like watching the slowly yet steady progression of rural people growing location.
I really love to see and memorize the wayspot that has “no wayspot nearby”, and then day by day, continuously reviewing more and more wayspot surrounded with great historical location or community center,… like witnessing a local community is growing and you are the one helping them to grow.
This happened even more when the requirement for Pokemon Go is lowered to 35, and I got some people dm me, ask me for support, and peer review on their location(I did post some guide which translated to my language in facebook group, ended up having some dm me seeking for help), it was a great feeling.
Posting wayspot and get them approved is a great feeling, but watching other people who have nothing turn into a garden full of great wayspot is an invaluable experience that i hope i can kept it forvever.
Sorry for making it so longgg i just want to put my thought <3
I’m currently on a 12 hour drive to a rural mountain town that I built up from 0 to dozens, to the best I could. It’s my proud little hamlet.
I happened to be there during Galarian Zigzagoon Community Day and saw somebody using a Lure. Last year, I noticed a person who’s name I’ve recognized in Gyms (you get to “know” a user you share Gyms with for over a year consecutive) had made a new Stop. I’m excited to see what the Powerspot scene looks like.
There’s still pride in finding something new in a big downtown or busy airport, even more so when you notice it’ll come online in game, but I think the most joy will always have been submitting rurally or in exurbs.
Thanks for sharing your sentiment and I hope you don’t mind me sharing mine
I am planning on doing the same tomorrow. There is a great cultural and historical town about 20 km from where I live. There is a weekly food festival organized by the local community every Saturday, and it attracts a huge crowd.
The last time I was there, there seemed to be only two Waypoints, and I have saved around 20 contributions just for tomorrow and planned the Waypoints in advance with titles and descriptions. If the Waypoints get approved, I might be motivated to visit there regularly; plus, the food there is really great and to die for.
Living in a semi rural area (It’s not waypoint baron but no way near crowded) I have added some waypoints to the local area and it’s how I like it. Baron or crowded would go against the way / why I play the game so definitely chuffed when I get an Accept, but the best “chuffed” I got was finding others where also adding.
One of the other things I have done this year is do a full update of the “unofficial map” for my town. Someone commented that the local shopping area had got a 2nd Gym, looked at the map and thought “that can’t be right, that L14 cell only has 3 occupied cell” (I had only checked about 6 weeks before, next visit I checked and there was 3 new waypoints. This was the 1st proof that others in the area where also wayfaring
I also like seeing certain areas grow with more wayspots. I review alot these days and most areas come up frequently for me, this way I see wayspots that I reviewed maybe come up in the gallery of wayspots nearby. The feeling you get from this is amazing. You just get a sense of “I was usefull to this certain person/area”
My own area had some wayspots and some limited amounts of gyms to play with. 6 months later I made my area a little paradise to play. Just in general seeing wayspots approved in your own area or other areas is amazing.
Not as impressive as you, but i found an area with only one pokestop in the next town, while my own town has like 10 gyms. That town has worship place, great coffee, ..
The best feeling is when someone in your own town doing an edit or submit a new submission nearby. I sometimes got caught with “damn this location exist???”
