Bike Routes

Is this acceptable as a pokemon stop?
It’s a form of exercising.
I’ve got a few that I’ve nominated but it keeps getting rejected not sure why?

This is just a generic traffic sign and does not meet the criteria for trail markers laid out in this clarification:

I also do not see safe pedestrian access in the second photo you added.

There is a save pedestrian walkway there. That white line is a path you see is for pedestrians to walk on and its totally safe area and a great place for a pokemon stop. I tried to appeal it but it got denied.

do you mean the pavement to the right of the white line? that is not a safe pedestrian path. that is a shoulder.

Yes that and yes it is a safe place for people to walk on. I’ve walked up and down that street a lot and its totally a safe place on both sides. Plus I’ve see other people get there bike routes accepted all the time why is mine any different?

Yours is just a generic picture of a bike indicating to drivers that bikes may be using this road, too. It does not have the name of the route on it, and is not a dedicated route that vehicles cannot access.

Bike routes that get accepted tend to be bike trails, with an identifiable path to follow (even if along a paved route). The trail markers for those routes are specific to the route.

What you’ve posted is a standard traffic sign indicating there is a place for bicycles along the road. Also, a road shoulder, while perhaps used by pedestrians, is not intended as a safe pedestrian pathway, so is not considered safe pedestrian access.

I normally ask people to share the rejection reasons first, but I did not do that this time. Are the issues we mentioned matching up with the rejection reasons you received?

If it was “Wayfarer criteria” then this is being rejected by the ML (machine learning ai) model. Those emails will say the decision was by “our team” instead of the community.

Here’s an example (not mine) that I pulled from another post that shows a bike trail marker that indicates a specific trail. You can also see it has safe pedestrian access because there is a sidewalk that runs along the side of it.

I usually consider that type of signage as too “generic” and don’t think it encourages exercise, exploration, or socializing. It’s a bike commuter sign on a roadway, not a trail with exercise or exploration as the intended route.

Yes, you can walk there, but it’s also alongside a road. It’s the type of location I typically refer to as “not a great place to encourage an AR gaming experience,” especially when considering pedestrians and/or motor vehicle drivers watching their phone for Raids/spawns/etc.

Not a great photo, but below is a “bike route” sign I did. It’s on actual trail, not the street, and it’s a connecting route.

Edit to add: notice the sign below the “bike route” sign which includes the trail name.
