This seems like a nice community area (park?). And the things you mention support that. But waterbodies themselves are hard to nominate. It is much easier to get a nomination approved if there is a visual anchor. I waterbody tends to be quite large.
Instead I might nominate the park. Or if there is a platform and/or bench overlooking the lake you may have better luck nominating it as a scenic overlook.
There is nothing that is an auto-accept. I am not sure what statement you are referencing here:
I think the main issue with your nomination is that it is not a distinct, identifiable location. My guess is that this is being rejected for “Wayfarer criteria” around 22 hours after you submit it and the email says “our team” instead of the community.
If there is a sign, bench, or something else that would mark a distinct location with a purpose of gathering, that would be more likely to be acceptable than just a random spot by the lake.
Oh the categories? Those are just labels and have nothing to do with criteria. If you look you will see things like “elementary schools” which are not eligible. I submit through Ingress, and we don’t have to choose those.
No worries! I know we had upset another user by all typing the same thing at the same time once, or I wouldn’t have mentioned it. I don’t think I will mention it again.
BTW if I found the right place on the map, they call them “lakes”
Talk to the parks and rec groups or other local groups and see if you can get series of educational signs installed. I’ve learned a lot about acts to protect the environment and watershed by reading the signs I nominate.
Better official lake signage could be good, too, just don’t do it yourself without permission
Y’all, that’s just a retention pond put in by the builder after grading the neighborhood. It’s meant to control water run-off and reduce flooding.
Typing all at once didn’t upset me, something else did.
Agree, retention ponds aren’t eligible, as they are part of infrastructure. They help to prevent overland flooding, similar to ditches at the sides of roads.
