Can’t believe people are admitting this…

Permanent and Distinct is a key element of the criteria.

I’ve never seen the word brazen so many times. I’m also confused what the issue is??

While the thread discusses a specific object, note that the reply does not single out that object. Rejection criteria supercedes the acceptance and eligibility criteria an object per the page:

Nominations and edit submissions may be entirely rejected if it meets at least one of the following rejection criteria

Good day and welcome to the forum!

The AI summary encapsulates the discussion pretty accurately

In a discussion titled “Can’t believe people are admitting this…”, users react to social media posts where players openly admit to or advise others on faking nominations for Pokémon GO PokéStops—often by creating temporary or misleading “art” on private property.

Someone in my community made a plaque and defaced a public bench by supergluing it to the bench. They bragged about it in the communication app our city used for POGO before campfire was a thing. Reported both to the city and to Niantic and nothing happened… It is interesting the lengths people will go to in order to get stops near them. in this case they were trying to influence a gym being made next to their house.

you can understand why the community are reluctant to accept general benches, can’t you? I know I emailed our council and asked them if they could put a bench on our bypass (it was made with nice wide paths for walking or cycling it, but at around 10km long, I thought it could do with a rest point for less able bodied people) and I suggested they see if anyone wanted to pay for a memorial bench there to cover the cost (and then if it has been someone prominent in the community I’d have nominated it) and I thought I was being cheeky doing that (we got the bench but not memorial) but to actually put your own fake memorial plaque is taking the mick!

They did not only deface public property they suggested the whole rest of the community do the same.
To get a Memorial Bench in my City is not hard, I could have done it when a relative passed ad had it put in any of the popular parks, it is just a monetary play though you spend $1000 to get is done… so instead glue a $5 plaque on an existing bench and boom there’s your stop.

I do find it funny these things happen, and even when reported, to city authorities nothing happens. Niantic has enough issues with banning people without people doing things like this though

I know having multiple accounts breaks Terms of Service. One person in Georgia has at least 5 accounts (do not recommend) which can each nominate and edit. Each account has nominated to get extra nominations. A different friend in Austria managed to nominate a plaque on the front of the building in which she lives knowing it was ineligible. That nomination was accepted. A different friend who is on the Global Question and Answer Discord server and lives in Wellington, New Zealand, has sent gifts from Stops & Gyms beside a daycare. I have reviewed enough nominations to know that what was suggested in your screenshots actually happens. Some of the more obvious examples of abuse get reported as such. The others still get rejected. I agree what is suggested other places is difficult if possible to control.
