I’ve submitted several nominations; some were approved, and some were rejected. However, I don’t really understand Niantic’s logic in rejecting some of my nomination, while in their Showcase, they approved a basketball court in a gated subdivision.
I know that this has been a long practice in the Pogo Community in the Philippines, but I can seem but to question the community or Niantic in approving waypoints which is obviously a generic business (such as franchise, etc), arts or grafitti just besides a road (no pavement). Many approved waypoints does not have any cultural, scientific or whatever value in it. You just need a group of people or community in your area to get 100% approved waypoint. I feel it is so unfair to us who reviews other nominations fairly.
Businesses can be eligible, depending on what the business is. Forget about whether it is generic or unique, and concentrate on what it actually is.
Wayspots beside roads can be fine if the road is quiet and clearly used by pedestrians.
It’s difficult to get a junk wayspot approved using a group, because you can’t stop other people from reviewing it. The area from which reviewers are taken is deliberately large to reduce the impact of abusive voting rings.
Well, in my case, I’ve nominated several establishment. Majority of which were rejected by Niantic. But you if you would try to look at the other pokestop in Metro Manila, you would be amazed that a lot of these stops do not actually meet niantic’s criteria.
The problem with gated community is that you cannot just simply barge in and spin the Pokestop or join in a battle (in case of Gyms). For example, if you have visited Acacia Estates in Taguig, there are a lot of Gyms inside their gated subdivision. You cannot simply go inside and tell the guards that your intention in entering their private property is to play PoGo. The thing is that the gyms here are scattered and located in a very busy street. Snatchers are everywhere.
That is a not a problem for Wayfarer or Pokemon Go. Not every pokestop/gym has to be accessible by every person in the area. It is entirely normal to have wayspots in gated communities. If you cannot access them, then you cannot access them.
Equally, if there are phone snatchers in an area, then don’t wave your phone around. If this means you can’t catch pokemon, this is again not a problem for Niantic to solve. The existence of pokestops, gyms and pokemon does not make an area safe.
The way I view PoIs in areas I personally can’t access is that they’re there for the people who can use them. I would happily submit things in gated communities or businesses I didn’t have regular access to. I can improve the game for others, and I don’t personally need to benefit from those spots to make them useful and worthwhile
Yeah, it is easier for those people to say this especially if they are living in a location wherein Pokestops/Gyms can be easily accessible. By the way, the place where I live, we only have 1 pokestops and the nearest and only gym is in the nearest Mall. I bed to disagree that it is not Niantic’s problem. We are paying to play their game (PoGo). Unlike other games which is 100% free-to-play, I don’t get why Niantic continues to reject nominations which are worthy and suit their criteria. In my case, I have submitted nominations which are all worthy for pokestop approval. Below are the photos.
If you have comprehensively read this thread, I wrote that my nominations were rejected by Niantic. However, if we are going to compare it to other existing Pokestops or Gyms, my nominations are more publicly accessible, safe, and have artistic and cultural values than those which have already been approved. I’m asking the community for help because we live in a place where we only have 1 pokestop and the nearest and only gym is in the mall. I’m trying to make more Pokestop in our area so that we can have our very own gym or gyms. If you only experiencing travelling from your home to the nearest gym just to join the raid hours or community day. It’s kinda frustrating. It’s not like we are just living our lives just by playing PoGo. We have work, family, and other stuff to do.
Can you share the full details of these nominations including title, description, supporting information and rejection reasons. And were any of these appealed?
I think this thread has gone way too far. I thought it is the community that should be helping one another, but it says otherwise. Kinda sad especially I’m a returning player from 2016. The best action that I can do now is to review the submissions based on the criteria and report those non-existing pokestops and gyms which are rampant here in Metro Manila, Philippines. I get that some of you here are being paid in whatever form by Niantic. We all know that already. Please stop defending the company. It is not worth it.
I asked because I am trying to help, sometimes the issue is not apparent on the surface. On one of these photos there is a person posing and that is not allowed, so a resubmission with a better photo would help. The rejections could be coming from the ML model and not from reviewers as well, so we can help improve your nominations for better success rate.
Yeah, these seem to all be rejections from the ML model so will probably benefit from appealing (Unless these something wrong in the description that automatically disqualifies them). Note you get 2 appeals, each on a 15 day timer currently.
The anytime fitness presumably is a gym brand? That should be eligible as a great place to exercise but the community often seem to incorrectly reject gyms, so I would appeal assuming that your nomination is okay (we didnt get to see the whole thing yet so can’t judge)
I have nominated a few gyms and I almost always have to appeal them, but they’re always accepted in the end
I would appeal the gym and art(the one with frame doesnt seems permanent though). You might need gps tagged photo to proof location. I dont think watson are eligible. Restaurant might be eligible, but its up submitter to convince reviewer
You must understand that AI rejection is normal. It filter a lot of bad nomination but in process, some good nomination also got rejected.
