Can you get a cool down for skipping nominations?

I have to skip a lot of nominations because they are written in a language I don’t speak well enough. Lately about 4/5 nominations are either in German, Hungarian or Polish, which are languages I don’t understand. I got my second 4h cooldown today and I think that might be the cause. Is there any way I can change what language are the nominations I get? Or limit it to just specific countries?

Welcome to the forum!

You do not get a cooldown specifically because you skipped, but if you skip, you may go fast enough to trigger the cooldown algorithm.

You can’t select which language you want to review in, but you can make use of translation tools. I found the Google Chrome translate option very helpful.

So my options are to either keep getting cooldowns, start making pauses before skipping, translate the names and descriptions which will make it more tedious and more likely to make a mistake, or to learn 3 new languages. Awesome…

Have you heard of Wayfarer Tools? They are really come handy on translating language automatically.

There are also some good extension like Simple Translate on Firefox, in which I can just drag a sentence and then press translate. It is really painless.

Hello and welcome @MatovieRevenant
It is frustrating if you get cool-downs….
But they are meant to make you think about your reviewing practice and if necessary change something that you are doing.
It is something I have done over time to try and improve what I am doing.

Skips on their own are not causing the cooldowns.
The time taken to do a review, whether you know the language or not is the most common reason for a cooldown. Quickly clicking through is the mostly likely reason to trigger a cooldown.

And most of us have to rely on translation tools, so no need to learn other language - something I’m really not good at. :joy:

If you don’t like the other options and don’t mind installing external tools, there is a translation button available at wayfarer.tools.
