so I just recently tried to nominate a pokestop for the first time and I made it the walkable pond around my complex that although it is in my apartment complex you really don’t have to be a resident to come walk it. I used actual pictures of the pond and trees around it however it keeps getting denied, and then there’s a pokestop that is literally a doggy bag station right up by someone’s back door that you really shouldn’t be walking to, and they made THAT a pokestop but then when I say that it really shouldn’t be one because it’s actually on private property being that person’s back door, they deny it and they deny my pokestop which is in public space. Make it make sense please. Also I really don’t need to hear the argument of possibly having too many pokestops in one place cause if y’all have ever been to a big city or you ever seen Japan there’s pokestops every 3 feet so that’s really not an excuse here.
Without the details we will be struggling, please screengrab your full nomination and post, people are always willing to help.
Ponds: I often see these refused as unsafe, is there a picnic area at the pond? this would be an easier nomination.
Dog Walking Areas: Official ones are eligible, some will use the station as an anchor. Niantic state Single Family Residence as illegible but multi family residence are OK. If you believe it is still wrong you can report it for removal.
Pokemon Go uses S2 cells to determine what waypoints can go in to the game, more details https://pokemongohub.net/post/article/comprehensive-guide-s2-cells-pokemon-go/
Certain areas may get more due to sponsored spots / events or previous move requests that didn’t use to trigger a re-set of the area (Niantic are dealing with these as an when they find them).
Hope this helps.
Hello and Welcome @MorganF0930
You are clearly having a frustrating time trying to nominate and get something accepted.
It is better to concentrate on what you want to nominate than other wayspots that have become pokestops or gyms- that just increases the frustration.
Its not always easy to spot where the best place is on the forum to post so I am moving this to Nomination Support so that we can prioritise helping with the nomination and what else might be worth nominating nearby.
If you can post both photos and all the text and location that will help.
Was it rejected very quickly (within 24 hours) and was it rejected by our team? This would mean that it was an auto reject and we need to see if there are ways to improve the nomination.
it was automatically denied then the second time it was denied within 24 hrs, its a public space with spaces to lounge on idk what else to say its a fairly simple space, i tried to make my poke stop something nice unlike ones that are waste stations which is funny that those have been approved. these are the pictures i am using
I’m not sure which one you submitted as the main photo. That first photo is a picture of a tree, not a pond.
However, the problem with ponds like these are that there is no single “spot” to anchor your nomination to. Think of it this way… If I told you to meet me at the pond, what are the chances that we would both walk to the exact same spot on the pond? I might walk up and be across the pond from where you walked to it. This is why we look for proxies to represent a pond, often some kind of sign. It’s not that we really want the sign to be the wayspot, but we need a place to firmly point to and say “THAT is where the pond is.”
Yeah you kinda have to nominate man-made structures for it to pass; even tho I can tell that the tree does serve as sort of meeting point since my friends and I have had spots like that locally or in parks
