Chez La Vie Local Café and Eatery

Name from my wayspot: Chez La Vie

Description: Chez la vie is a local café in Fethiye, the perfect place to meet friends, family and other trainers.

Location: 36620553 , 29095287

Reason for refusal: company

I have mentioned several times that it does not belong to any franchise. It has over 400+ reviews in Google has its own website: https://chezlavieeatery.com/ the nice story is also on the website.

It is a good meeting place for everyone. I hope Niantic can help because the reviewers here probably don’t know the rules. It’s not a 0-8-15 café. It’s a local café where they serve vegan food and the furniture is antique.

Welcome to the forum @NokyRed

I am confused by your statement that “I hope Niantic can help.” Are you trying to appeal this rejection to Niantic? You do that through your contributions page. You get two appeals, each on a 20 day timer before you can use it again. If you don’t see the “Appeal” button, you may just have to wait for it to come back.

However, I would not appeal this one with the reference to “trainers” in the description. Game references in the description are not allowed. When you resubmit, you should include why this is “the perfect place to meet.” What is special about it. What can you find here that makes it worth checking out. This information should be in the description: “It’s a local café where they serve vegan food and the furniture is antique.” I think sometimes reviewers have already rejected before they get to the supporting section with the current review flow.

For the main photo, I would probably try a tighter crop on the sign with less background, more like this:

Extra stuff in the background tends to confuse the ML (machine learning ai) model. You can take your photos before you start the nomination, then straighten and/or crop them to perfection before starting the nomination. Then choose the existing photo option.

I like cafés as nominations, and I would vote for this quite happily. There are a couple of reasons why I think it was rejected that you can fix and try again

Firstly, your description mentions “trainers” which is related to Pokemon Go and would be grounds for rejection. Make sure your title and description don’t mention any games or game related terms.

Secondly I think the angle of your main picture could be better. Either focus on the sign (especiallyif its hard to avoid people in the image), the artwork on the sign of the building ( if thats art and not just an advert?), or take a picture of the front with the tables and main view of the building

Lastly I think you can talk more in your description/ support info about why this place is great. What’s the food like? Is it local cusine or have a speciality dish? You don’t need to say much but it could help

Good luck!

Hi, welcome! I would also suggest trying again without the game terms in the description and with the suggestions you have been given above.

And to be clear, Niantic generally can’t help with rejected nominations through this forum, you are allocated appeals in your Contribution Management that you could use for that. As also said above you should not appeal this one before resubmitting with a different description that doesn’t contain game terms. Good luck!

We are unable to verify as per the nomination context how this business is a culturally hotspot and significant to your community. /// what exactly does niantic expect? link to the page was added the reviewers could see it and yet it was dismissed as a company. the only thing i didn’t write is: the restaurant was recommended by restaurant guru. i don’t know if that’s important. google reviews is very good and whenever i walk that way, there are lots of people there. anyone have any ideas? i would be very grateful, because i’m getting desperate lol

I’ve found they can be hit and miss with reviewers. Be in @frealafgb’s review queue who likes them and you’ll probably be ok, on another day not so much.

Here are some examples if it helps although I’m not sure they are that different from yours.

Emily accepts

This cafe isn’t really accepted as a cafe just a bonus pic for the Brits

I do love a cafe or restaurant. I don’t understand why they’d be rejected as not being a good place to be social. That’s the whole point of them

Thats hugely disappointing- I would hope the Niantic forum staff could re-evaluate this appeal decision as to me this looks like a great place to socialise

Hi, welcome! I see other posters already gave you great advice, so I’ll only add this: I noticed on the website that this cafe won an award last year, that’s always a good thing to mention either in the description or in the additional info. Lots of reviewers are on the fence on cafes as POIs and they only approve those that have a long history or those of proven quality. Mentioning any awards can help you get their votes. Don’t give up and good luck!

Did you include the information about awards in your appeal ?

Thank you very much for your answers! I have seen this Recommend badge didn’t know it was considered an award lol. The link was always left, Niantic should have taken a closer look.

Do all the cafés that have appeared as pokestops have a guru award?

No. It just helps to prove it is important to the community to have won awards.

No they dont. i’m happy to look positively at a nomination without it having awards. Some of my favourite places dont have any, but they are great places for sitting down and chatting.
Each nomination is different. But if they have awards mention them.
