Community sign locations

I have a community sign for a neighborhood in my area. It is not easily accessed and is by high access road.

Why is this a poke stop when there is nothing of significance about it, it has risks trying to get to it, and is only accessible by car really.

I submitted it for removal and it was rejected.

Welcome to the forum!

I completely agree with you that community signs do not normally meet eligibility requirements, and have also found that staff rejects removal reports for them. It is extremely frustrating.

If you want to try to appeal the rejected report, you can ask in Wayspot Appeals - give any evidence you have that this should not be a Wayspot. But while they don’t meet eligibility requirements in most cases, they also don’t meet removal requirements usually.

It’s just frustrating that the emphasis is to go out and explore historical or unique locations or things and these are neither and as unique as a McDonald’s but won’t be removed.

Hello @rorreteltrut

Cyndie has already provided advice on the forum appeal process so I’ll jump on the next question.

There are a variety of companies that have sponsored locations (Walmart, GameStop, McDonalds, etc). While these don’t always fit in with the current eligibility, I think it is nice to have them in the mix. Some areas may be more residential or rural and the sponsored stops can be fantastic for those communities.
