As the title says, the Pokestop in the coordinate below disappeared, I am still using it yesterday for my routes. I am suspecting that the pokestop was removed because of the 7-11 sponsored stop that is placed in almost the same location.
I know some of you may question the placement and say this and that. This is disappointing as a rural player that the stop is suddenly removed, and I have 2Gold routes here which is not an easy grind. I doubt that somebody will report it since it was placed in the exact location as the coordinates and the stop is very accessible with nearby waiting shed, place for bystander, and commercial establishments.

I have had a quick check and the wayspot still exists in the database. I do note that you’ve said there’s a sponsored location very nearby, and it is known that sponsored locations have additional proximity rules associated with them. It’s very likely that whilst the sponsored location exists, the wayspot that you submitted will be hidden in Pokémon Go. When the sponsorship ends, your wayspot should reappear.

I hope so. But its kinda sad since the sponsored pokestop is in the wrong location. I didn’t expect this to happen. I won’t able to use the route for months hayst. BTW thank you for your response.
P.S. I will try to request for relocation for the sponsored stop.
Good luck with that. Location edits for sponsored spots tend to take forever to be resolved. I submitted a one for a McDonald’s gym in PoGo back in December, but still haven’t heard back (not a big move, BTW). Others have noted they’ve been waiting for years.
Location edits for sponsored spots go through a different process than regular spots. Niantic says that they have to contact the sponsor before the move can be done, as well as some other undisclosed processes, before a location edit can be done.

Thank you for posting about this. I had no idea that a sponsored stop or gym could make a preexisting pokestop or gym go away. I have never seen this happen.

If something causes a recalc, they absolutely can. It is a bad design, IMO.
