Nominated my first Wayspot, had it rejected by the robot, so I appealed. Now I have a warning report on my account. They don’t tell you what you did wrong, and there is nothing in the rules that I can see where I violated them. I asked for clarification and the sum total of the response was, “Sorry, we aren’t going to tell you.” Do not need to help improve the game that badly. Yup! Absolutely not worth the risk to my account.
Hello and Welcome @Waldwolfe
If you are happy to share more we would like to help.
Can you please clarify if you received the 3 emails that indicate that it is stage 1 of the enforcement ladder?
There is an educational email warning which can look similar but is not on the ladder at all.
One of the emails should say which wayspot caused issues.
And how long is the suspension for?
The wayfarer team will often respond to posts here.
Yes, I have received the emails. They do not make any sense whatsoever. It says because it was a “misplaced waystop”, but I was standing in front of the sign in question when I submitted the waypoint originally. It was rejected by the robot, and I filed an appeal. And now my account is in Jeopardy because I was trying to help add coverage in a rural area where there is one other pokestop within 10 miles. There is a shopping mall in Barcelona, Spain that has 15 gyms, not stops gyms, that are packed so tightly together you can’t click on an individual gym. But if it’s this much trouble to try to add a little more coverage and the sparsely populated area with with only one stop then it isn’t worth the effort and risk to my account that I have spent a couple of $100 on in the last few months, and countless hours playing.
I’m sorry you had a bad experience so far.
Now is the chance you can share more details. Staff is very active in supporting users, here. This can help the community at large to have better understanding of the process, too, instead of just speculation.
Thanks for that,
And yes it is frustrating when you see some very dense areas which could included sponsored gyms or previous malicious placements and yet have difficulty with your own.
Can you share your original whole nomination with the co ordinates you submitted it at please?
Have you checked yourself that the co ordinates are correct?
And the exchange you have had was it a formal appeal.
Sorry to ask all these questions but we need to understand what has happened if we are to be able to advise.
Awesome! I have given you all the details I have through. The biggest frustration has been that when I asked for assistance and clarification I was told that Niantic policy is to not explain. Since my knowledge and experience do not mesh with the rational I was given, and I cannot get clarification/resolution, my only solution seems to be to not risk it.
I appreciate you taking the time to respond. Especially given the likely volume of nonsense you have to deal with.
Who told you this?
You can search through here and find plenty of times that staff has initiated a direct message with folks to discuss details that are not appropriate for the public forum.
And plenty more times when they just explained the issue in the topic.
We actually don’t know anything about the nomination that you submitted, and knowing more about it may help us give more info. If you can post screenshots from Contribution Management of the entire nomination, that’ll be helpful.
Keep in mind that a warning doesn’t prevent you from still submitting. You may want to read up more on this here: Wayfarer Abuse Enforcement Ladder Policy — Wayfarer Help Center
The appeal was “formal” I guess. I submitted it through the online system. I do not have the coordinates, and have not tried to verify them as I am not local to that location, though I do visit and know the local community. The Wayfair system is now only giving me the appeal rejection notice. The “map point” I can see appears to be within 10 - 15 feet of the location so depending on how precise the system is that gives you an idea.
I sent a response before seeing your latest request so please excuse any confusion.
You can find all the info here:
No confusion and I appreciate your replies here.
I do highly recommend following the advice from above and sharing some screenshots of your nomination and even the emails and support chat messages.
Wayfarer staff usually fits does respond in these threads, but they’ll be more likely to if you’ve laid out your case clearly. And the community members (like above) are very happy to help.
This is not correct. We send an email listing the violation that resulted in the warning.
Nevertheless, I have shared the details through a DM. Please check that at your convenience.
Thanks,
That’s a huge difference.
Agree, as 15ft is around 4.6m (1m is about 3 1/4 ft). That could also be seen as possible manipulation of the map, especially if trying to place in an empty L17 S2 cell so it’ll appear in PoGo.
@Waldwolfe Accuracy is extremely important when it comes to Wayfarer, so being off by a few meters could be seen as abuse. ML most likely noticed something was off, hence why it rejected the nomination. In cases where ML rejects, don’t be afraid to ask for some help in the Nomination Support thread before appealing, as it may end up being better to resubmit instead of appealing.
It seems you got warning because missplacement of wayspot submission. I assume its your 1st strike. Below is my example of receiving 1st strike.
Moving forward, if its 1st strike, be careful on future submission. Missplacement of wayspot submission is subject to abuse ladder system.1st strike doesnt restrict you from any pogo/wayfarer game. But next strike could be 30days suspension. Although drpending on severity, it could also be 90days or 10years suspension.
What you can do now is try explaining to appeal team. Try getting all fact and admit if there is any wrongdoing. Depending on case, its possible for staff to remove the strike
