Reject for the title and/or description. It’s up to the submitter to get the details correct and if they can’t check their submission, it’s not on you to correct it for them. It can be painful getting a rejection because of a typo that you didn’t notice, especially when it’s a distant POI you can’t get back to easily, but you only have yourself to blame (it happened to me).
When getting “inaccurate/low quality description” as the rejection narrative, any sensible person will check their description and correct/improve it before resubmitting.
Hey @RubenUchiha ,
At this time, reviewers cannot edit text in submissions. If the title or description does not violate acceptance criteria, vote accordingly. Once the Wayspot is live, other Wayfinders will have an opportunity to submit an edit and suggest a better title/description.
Thanks,
You do not have to reject for spelling errors. It is up to you to decide whether the error is so bad that a regular person would not understand the text. “I don’t know” is an option.
Can I edit a misspelling in the title or description?
At this time, reviewers cannot edit submissions beyond suggesting a new real-world location. If the title or description does not violate acceptance criteria, vote accordingly. Once the Wayspot is live, other Wayfinders will have an opportunity to submit an edit and suggest a better title/description.
lol great minds
How bad do the spelling mistakes need to be before an otherwise OK submission is too bad to accept? In my experience, once you let an error through, the error will remain (most of the time, other wayfarers/players will either not notice the error or will shrug and move on).
If they violate the Title guidelines:
I personally would not accept a typo that makes the statement wrong, becomes offensive, or becomes a garbled mess to read. I think “how bad is rejectable” is another case of “use your best judgement.”
Not related to spelling mistakes (which aren’t addressed in that guideline, which is an answer to the question), but do those guidelines mean it is correct to reject when the title is identical to one or more nearby wayspots?
This happens especially with trail markers and you can see the identically titled wayspots already on the map, e.g., “Wolds Way Trail Marker” [made up example].
“Title Guidelines … Do Submit: A unique title for each Wayspot…”
I think with some trail markers, being they don’t always have added info, like a location or how far you’ve gone, it’s ok if the titles are the same, but accurate to the location. So, if the trail is called “Canyon Creek Trail” but none of the trail markers are numbered or have a distance, “Canyon Creek Trail Marker” or “Canyon Creek Trail Marker # 1” would still be accurate and unique; “Trail Marker” or “Trail Marker # 1” would not be unique as they don’t tell you where the trail marker is or which trail it’s for.
I wouldn’t reject just for this reason however, it is advisable to give them unique titles.
dit zou voor mij in houden dat ik nooit wat zou posten met mijn dyslexie …..
is dus niet eerlijk
There are many ways such as spell checkers that should help at least make your submissions readable.
As stated above, only rejecting in certain circumstances is correct thing to do.
If your dyslexia has caused certain words that should not be included in a family game to be in your nomination then we have no other option then reject.
If the information is un-readable then we are unable to confirm what you have stated so again we can only Reject.
If you have typed something that is readable even with spelling mistakes then I agree that it should be reviewed and if everything else is acceptable then accept. Hopefully someone will correct later.
welcome to the conversation!
i may have misunderstood your comment. i thought you were agreeing with what i said and saying it would be unfair to reject for simple typos. i stand by my statement that if the text is unreadable, then it should be rejected. but as the previous comment mentioned, there are spell checkers and other tools to prevent that.
i like to make my nominations with very simple text on my phone, then proofread them on my contributions page on my computer. it is much easier to make corrections with my full keyboard.
