Few Accepted Stops not appearing

Hi Team,

Fully aware that not all accepted nominations will appear in all games however, i was looking at S2 Cells etc and i was wondering if this was the reason for the one above please?

I only play Pokemon Go and was really wanting these for cool postcards. Anyone able to confirm? Thank you!

Welcome to the forums!

Your nomination is in the database

It is located at 55.860904999999995, -4.044563, which is within 20m of Time Twins in the Iron Burgh - Vulcan Ventures, so it won’t show in Ingress.

That Time Twins Wayspot and The Blairbridge Arch are both in the same cell as yours, so it won’t show in PoGO either, as one of those two should be in game.

Got you, thank you for the clarification. So is it because it is a rural town stops are limited within a restrivctive cell range?

I have seen plenty of stops in close proximity previously so would really like to know in depth with regards to specific acceptance. These are the things not you are not told about after going through the hassle of nominating them in the first place.

How does instances of the below occur?

At one point in time, location edits didn’t get checked against the proximity rules. This led to abuse where people would intentionally submit things in the wrong location in order for them to be in a free cell, then they’d submit a location edit to move them into an occupied cell and bypass the rule of one Pokéstop or Gym per cell.

This was unintended behaviour and has since been fixed (though I have seen reports that the fix may not be working exactly as intended recently). However, Niantic didn’t force everything to refresh to conform with the rules, so some places were left looking like that. They will take action on them and fix the density if the areas are reported though.

Thank you kindly, all very clear and concise and I appreciate it. Is there anyway for me to get more tuned in to cell areas etc so i can consult there first quickly before I go through the hassle of doing the nomination?

Also, is there a way to amend a spot after acceptance? To slightly adjust its location if on the cell edge or, for example, if a previously accepted stop has a person/animal accidentally in the picture, you can simply go and change the picture to see if it appears? I think that might be the issue with this one below -

I appreciate the help & information in adavnce

Do not try to adjust something that is already in a correct position. This is considered abuse. If the position is wrong, there is help chat (Niantic Wayfarer) but they will only do a move to correct a pin, not to put it in a free cell.

Concern over people submitting to free cells that are not the real life location is probably why Niantic does not directly explain the S2 cell rules, but they are allowing us to explain them here on the forum. I use a pogotools overlay with iitc - a version of the ingress map. I have been told that a link to this kind of file is not allowed on the forum since it could potentially be harmful, but that i could share a screenshot. the readme has instructions:

A good general article about S2 cells: https://pokemongohub.net/post/article/comprehensive-guide-s2-cells-pokemon-go/

If you haven’t already done so read
https://pokemongohub.net/post/article/comprehensive-guide-s2-cells-pokemon-go/
This explains about the cells.
Search for NvlblNm and pogo-s2 to find the IiTC for ingress tool.
If you need help then the Wayfarer Discussion Discord has peop,e who can help.
These are not perfect as but it what most use.
Cyndie beat me to it :joy:

Thank you, just had a read through it just now. I understand it, but i for sure dont agree with it but it is what it is I suppose! Ill get more familiar with it and take it from there. Again, thank you for taking the time!

Is this one because of the cells as well? I am going to check the Discord and NvlblNm etc tomorrow morning but I am thinking the one above might be because of the picture has my wife and dog in it, which I did not notice until after acceptance :see_no_evil_monkey:

If it was accepted, nothing in the photo would keep it from showing in Pokemon Go. The people in the photo could have caused it to be rejected, but they aren’t identifiable, so reviewers let it go.

Good to know, thanks Cyndie. I assume another lovely cell issue with regards there. Ill get studying up on these shenanigans ASAP.

Photo rejection can be a reason why your nomination is not accepted, but it won’t cause an accepted nomination to fail to appear in your game.

If you received an email that said your nomination was accepted, this means it has been added to Niantic’s Lightship database. From there, the S-2 cells reveal whether and how it will be incorporated into PoGo:

One Point-of-Interest Wayspot per L-17 cell, thresholds of 2, 6, and 20 PoI per L-14 to promote one into a gym, etc.)

There can be other mitigating circumstances, however. A property owner might have requested for Niantic to disallow Wayspots within the confines of their property. This is known as a geofence.

Okay it looks like Welcome to Airdrie! is where the red pin is. i don’t see it on this map since it is within the 20m circle of another portal, which is the ingress inclusion rule, and it won’t show in pokemon go because it is in the same L17 cell as Lest We Forget

Thanks Cyndie again, I appreciate you letting me pick your brain. The L17 Cell, is that the large orange square in the above picture?

I understand that if accepted, it might fit Ingress criteria but might be restricted by L17 Cells for Pokemon Go. Thats a bit of a bummer when you realise its not as simple as adding a POI that is not yet nominated meeting the Wayfarer criteria

Some of the wayspots that haven’t been eligible to be pokestops and gyms have been appearing as powerspots.

Yeah, thats handy enough. I assume the data is there for them to chop/change when a prominent need devolps. This has all been very interesting to be fair, its good to know. Annoying, but good to know! Have a good night all :handshake:t2:

Yes, those golden quadrilaterals are the L-17 cells, and it can be disappointing when you work according to the rules they provide, and don’t get the result you have earned!

Yeah its kinda crazy how there are little, hidden rules you dont find out about after going through the hassle lol. If i still have the motivation, i’ll grab a comprehensive map of L-17 Cells from the info provided and take it from there  Have a good night!

oops just saw but they answered. the larger L14 cell looks like this and is what is used to determine gyms

don’t worry about the colors of the dots - that is for ingress stuff
