It seems that the Wayfarer Community covers topics other than Wayfarer, so I would like to hear your opinions here.
The theme is “Gym selection in Pokémon GO.” The rules for Gym selection are not clear, but like the PokéStop selection rules, I think everyone is familiar with them.
Where I live, many of the Wayspots accessible from apartment complexes are Gyms, so many people can enjoy the game (raid battles, gym battles and earning PokéCoins, etc.) without having to explore and leave their homes.
I think this is a bit unfair. So, although I know there will be many objections, I propose that Niantic reselect Gyms (including PokéStops?) once a year!
As far as I know, Gyms used to be selected by which Stop had the most photo votes.
I believe that it is now random which I believe is fairer.
Personally, I would be happy with a “Reset” and every year seems like a reasonable time frame.
Whether I can see Niantic implementing it is another thing.
Its called Go as you are meant to Go out so a system that gave other people the option to play from Home doesn’t fit with that idea.
If you are looking for ideas that will get objections mine would be that when you open the game no waypoint is shown within 100 metres so nobody gets a stop / gym they can interact with without going somewhere.

Your suggestion about yearly reset is something you need to adress to the Pokémon Go support. We can’t help with that.
When people talk about photos and likes, what are they referring to? Where are these photos and likes taking place?
tap the title of the pokestop/gym and you will see another screen with the photo count in a square on the bottom right. tap the square and you will see all the photos for the wayspot individually, as well as an outline of a 
where you can like the photo. tap the individual photo to see it full size and to see the count of the likes on each photo.
this is the mechanic that promotes the most liked photo to be the disc photo. there is a minimum level to be able to like photos, but i believe it is now the same as the level to submit nominations.

I agree that Niantic probably can’t implement this, but I thought it might be a solution, so I asked for your opinion.

Wouldn’t say can’t, more that they would not see this as a Problem.
For the people that like the fact that they have a “couch gym” they would be upsetting a large group of players every time they did the Reselect.
I admit that as soon as I hit the Wayfarer level my thought was “what can I nominate that I can reach from home” but didn’t find anything I would nominate. I now think along the lines that I don’t want 1. I am not the type of player that must play all the the raids, must have the best of every pokemon etc.
I prefer to use Pokemon Go as a reason to Go out and actually feel like the game gives more to me than those that just sit at home and have everything “given to them”.
I feel like SlimboyFat71’s way of enjoying Pokémon GO is an ideal form, or the way it should be. I would also like to relax a bit more and enjoy Pokémon GO, but it seems I still need more undergoing spiritual training.
It would be great if Wayfarer could help eliminate cheating and abuse.
I hope that Niantic will continue to work hard, even though it will be difficult, so that we can encounter new surprises.
There’s many different ways of enjoying Pokemon Go. What @SlimboyFat71 describes is what works for them. Relaxing doesn’t work for everyone 
Wayfarer cannot eliminate cheating and abuse. I don’t believe that anything anywhere can do that. It doesn’t matter what rules, checks and balances, punishments etc are put in place, some people will always look for a way round them. This is true for computer viruses, examinations, financial advisers and wayfarer.
Unfortunately, you’re right.
This is evident in the related threads in this Community.
However, there are those who persevere in dealing with misconduct and abuse, and I salute them.

Agreed that not changing gyms is a much better option full stop.
If anything, it is helpful to have additional gyms approved.
While I too enjoy walking and visiting many wayspots, when it is bitterly cold or sweltering heat, this takes away the enjoyment. In those cases, and for people with mobility issues, then it is perfectly reasonable to want as many gyms as possible accessible from indoor spaces such as malls. Can be a challenge with the ‘explore/exercise/socialize’ restrictions for nominations.
This is not true, I often submit things with one POI in the cell, and the new POI becomes the gym
When there are 2 wayspots, one of them becomes a gym. Each one has a 50% chance, both the first wayspot and the second one.
I didn’t say you can guarantee gym placement. You can control it in an empty cell by submitting the gym-preferred wayspots first, meaning at least 2 of the gyms will be from your top 6 wayspots.
This isn’t abuse, because other players are able to submit wayspots as well. If you are the only person submitting, you have a legitimate choice of which order to do things.
