According to Niantic rules, a POI is converted into a gym based on its popularity (photos, likes, etc.). In my area, an L14 cell has reached 6 POIs, and a Wayspot with no likes or photos (and a fairly isolated one) has been converted into a gym, replacing a more popular, more accessible one with many photos and likes voted on by trainers. I want to appeal to have this latter one become the new gym in the cell, rightly voted unanimously by the trainers.
Current gym Waystop (to be cancelled):
Freedom Park Play Area, Brentwood
Coord: 5161247, 0.293484
Brentwood

Essex
Potential new gym (to be restored):
Walk Base Brentwood Park
Coord: 51.614569, 0.293598
United Kingdom
Essex
It’s not obvious where the best place is to post, so I am moving this to general discussion as the appeals area is for specific types of posts.
Niantic has never commented on any rules about gym creation. Information about it has come from community observation.
Niantic has also stated that deliberate attempts to manipulate the game board are considered malicious.
It does happen that wayspots become gyms that the community were not expecting. An observation is that wayspots that are showcases don’t become gyms.
That a gym has spawned makes it appear that what you have from Niantic point of view will be expected behaviour. There will be nothing to restore.
I don’t think it meets any removal criteria to be honest. Not meeting acceptance criteria isn’t usually grounds for removal. I am also surprised that it was accepted but we obviously cannot see all of the detail of how it was submitted and maybe additional context was available that convinced reviewers at the time
Based on recent threads on this forum, removal criteria includes something blatantly not meeting eligibility criteria, even if it does exist and is safely accessible.
It’s very hard to see this legitimately being approved, regardless of the details, as even a casual glance at the main photo means instant rejection. Either reviewers are accepting anything that exists to get more pokestops, don’t have any understanding of criteria or collusion.
As for @Munaqsriri sorry about all the replies with the negativity in it. But unfortunately the spot is not acceptable, hence we have done a report to remove it
That Wayspot is there since ages and known by many trainers in an area where (trust me) is extremely difficult to candidate and get a wayspot accepted. And you scratched it off. Shall we talk about all the pathway signal are accepted then? Congratulations good move AMG.
Doesn’t matter the time and the money I’ve spent in it (of which I regret now!), Pokemon go and Niantic end here for me. I’m out of this.
Most posters here stick to the rules of Wayfarer which includes Removal Requests when appropriate.
All @AMG7070 has done is improve the quality of the map so my "Congratulations " is for real.
If you believe they are wrong then please do, I suggest starting a new thread for it as it has nothing to do with this one. We will be happy to discuss the wrongs / rights of your belief of the Wayfarer Criteria.
Correct, spending money on the game does not allow you to bypass the rules.
I am not sure whether this is meant as a threat to Niantic but lets be real, I think they can cope with the loss of income from 1 person.
This choice is up to you. My suggestion would be to step back, take a break then decide whether you wish to return.
