How come in my town, a gas station that’s open 24/7 on a highway is a gym but I can’t even get a gas station on the other side of town that’s not on a busy highway approved? What am I doing wrong?
A gas station shouldn’t be eligible (generic business). But it can have elements that are eligible–murals, outdoor seating area, statues, etc. Is it actually the gas station that’s a wayspot or some other element?
Its also possible that the gas station is imported wayspot. Imported wayspot doesnt follow standard wayfarer criteria

It can go either way with things like gas stations. If they are built out and have food and tables for people to hang out it could be a good place for people to hang out and socialize. But if it is purely transactional it doesn’t meet any of the eligibility requirements. With the exception of having a unique attraction like a fun statue etc.
Eligibility for a wayspot needs to be something that’s cool to explore, someplace people seek out to be social, or a great place to exercise.
Unfortunately sometimes things get accepted that don’t meet the eligibility requirements.
Maybe there are other places near you that meet these requirements? If you are comfortable sharing your general area folks here could look around and give recommendations.
