How to start exploring - Tipps for new wayfinder

Hi @LuciferAyush
Welcome to the forum :hugs:
I’ve moved your topic to Nomination Support.
Some problems I can see are:

  1. you’re nominating on first sight a river
Nature features are not eligible on theire own (expected something special)

  2. your main and supporting photo are the same
You have to clearly spot on the nominated object in your main photo and put the object in wider angle for your support photo

  3. you need an anchor point for scenic views or for a hotspot to socialize on this river

I’m interested if the community wanted to add some more thoughts

Grocery stores are typically seen as generic businesses, as most communities have at least one, and their main service is to sell food and goods to customers.

I’d encourage you to review the Wayspot Criteria to get an idea of what may or may not he eligible. For more context you can also check out the Criteria Clarification Collection topic.

AI didnt fond anything eligible in your nomination. A beauty salon more often than not is not an eligible nomination.

It does seem to have a walking path next to it, and that may be eligible under exercise.

If it’s used for fishing, I’d look for a pier or dock where people fish from. Fishing spots are usually preferred over the entire body of water where one can go to fish, and fishing itself can be a great social activity, and fishing spots may encourage exploration to try them out.

Otherwise, I don’t see the canal itself as an eligible Wayspot, as it could either be a natural feature or man-made. Either way, they may be used to transport goods by boat, as well as provide flood control and protection.

Hi @LuciferAyush
I’ve merged your topics together.
You seem to be new to the wayfarer experience, please forgive me if not.
So you may want some advice how to start the journey?
Our community is always happy to help :hugs:

Like I noted earlier, you may want to review Wayspot Criteria, to get a better idea of what may or may not be eligible. The Criteria Clarification Collection here in the forums is also a great resource.

I do want to note that beauty salons may be eligible if they are a great place to be social with others, but you have to provide proof of this; just because pedestrians can walk/bike here doesn’t make it meet criteria, especially for a social spot. It’s also better to nominate the actual salon than a sign directing people to it; it looks like you’re nominating an advertisement for the salon rather than the salon itself.

There have been others that have nominated salons (hair/nail) and barber shops, but they usually don’t provide proof of them being great places to be social. There are many places in the world where salons and barber shops may be social hubs, a gathering place for the community, so they are not automatically ineligible.

Please tell me why Ai is rejecting my nomination and how can I pass it? Please help I’m new

@LuciferAyush
You can add all your questions to this post.
I’ll edit your title.

I see you also posted about an apartment building that was rejected on appeal. Apartment buildings usually don’t meet criteria, as they are meant to provide housing for citizens, which is a service to the community. You may see some Wayspots or even Power Spots in PoGo at apartment buildings, but most of these are most likely imports; imports don’t always follow the Wayspot criteria and existing in-game locations shouldn’t be used to determine what is and isn’t eligible.

Some apartment buildings may have other POIs in them that may be eligible, such as fitness centers, playgrounds, pools, community rooms, picnic areas, etc. Those would be better things to look for and nominate at apartments than the apartment building itself.

Should also explain what Wayfarer is. Wayfarer is a program where users nominate and edit real-world points of interest (POIs) to be added to the database map. This map is used by all games to determine game play locations, based on each game’s density/inclusion rules, and all POIs approved to be Wayspots must meet Wayspot criteria. Because of the density/inclusion rules for each game, not all approved Wayspots will show up in all of the games, or even show up in any game. PoGo uses S2 cells for their rules, while Ingress uses a 20 m rule. More info on S2 cells and PoGo can be found here:

https://pokemongohub.net/post/featured/comprehensive-guide-s2-cells-pokemon-go/

The database map is also used by app/software developers.

Look here we don’t have many pokestop there are total 3 pokestop in 7-8 km radius.
I saw in Pokemon go there are pokestop of apartment, generic store, beauty parlour, canal that’s why I do the same but all are rejected. I don’t anything about it, these stops will help other players what I didn’t get . I review many nomination there are worse nomination with Google image but they are eligible. How could I understand the criteria

Unfortunately bad things do get approved that shouldn’t, so looking at what already exists on the map isn’t a great start.

As others mentioned and linked to, you’re best looking at the criteria and then perhaps doing some reviews to understand what others have nominated.

Now I totally get you!
Take a tea, I hope you like to read

When I realized, as a pogo only player, that I can suggest pokestops on my own at a certain level I was very excited. Thought about my front yard or neighbors
As that is what I have seen ingame*.
Than I came to Wayfarer and learned that there’re existing rules about what can be a Wayspot, what a surprise. After I thought I understood the rules my first nomination was our local beauty salon (it’s really a community hub in our neighborhood) - rejected, even on my first appeal :woman_shrugging:t2:
So remember this part! Beauty salons are hard to sell. Yours must be really really outstanding - not a so called ā€˜slam dunk’ nomination.
After that experience I stay at reviewing for a while to learn more what others are nominating and how that follows the rules (always opened the tooltips and reread - is that allowed…?).
And finally I found the forum. By reading all the shared experiences, questions, photos, standard answers I’ve learned ā€œthe restā€.

Your main question should always be:
Is this a great find to explore, exercise or beeing social at? (Would I take a friend from outside to this POI?).

I’m sure we can help you to make a successful nomination :flexed_biceps:

*many wayspots in india have been imported one time. Theire lack of any given rules by Wayfarer makes it even harder to separate the good from the bad

As you are in India, you need to be aware that a large number of pokestops were created using an import of data from an external source. A portion of these pokestops were actually locations that would not have met the criteria for wayfarer.
It is therefore not surprising that when you look around at other pokestops you can get a false impression of what is acceptable.

Here is a picture of the map in the centre of Cuttack. Those blue pins like the one I highlighted are the imported data.

Let’s go back to basics.
Are there any of the following nearby
religious places - buildings or shrines
Community halls
Community noticeboards
An open space with seating areas that people gather in
Official parks or play areas
Sports places - a simple set of goals, a practice area for cricket or a basketball hoop.
These represent places you would explore or socialise or exercise.

Have you any of those not in the game?

Yes, Now I got an idea about which are actually eligible. Thank you all

Make sure to put as many information in supporting information. You can put in 2-3 picture in collage for surrounding photo for more angle in viewing. People tend to match surrounding photo to satelite or street view. More information will help reviewer make their judgement.
