Getting really annoyed with people denying spots

I know this is true, but I don’t like giving this as an answer to people who are frustrated by the system. I think this answer makes us Wayfarer people seem even more strange and less connected than they already believe us to be.

I think focusing on the fact that it is a system and all systems must have a standard set of guidelines (even using the word rules may come across as too harsh) is the way to approach this issue. It is increasingly difficult to explain to people solely focused on the PGO game how to apply those guidelines. We need to start looking for common ground and easy explanations for how and why some things are or are not eligible.

Edited to add: I’m saying all this as much to myself as to you or any of the other hard core WF addicts. It’s a message we all need to think about.

I agree with you. New(er) haven’t seen the ups and downs we’ve been through over the years. Thet just want to know why their “Pokestop” has appeared or continually gets denied. I think our go-to is to tell them to read the criteria and get caught up on S2 cells. I try to think, how would I explain this to my teenage daughters? in a way they could understand it an apply it.

Pokémon Go doesn’t do Wayfarer many favors by the way it presented in the game. Most trainers are simply following instruction and working off the information they are given.

Then they come to the forum where we expect them to know everything we know. As I have said before. I’d love it if @elijustrying could be the official “new person greeter”

I don’t think this is true. Either that, or I am blinded by my own perspective. I think we do a good job here explaining the mysteries of Wayfarer to those who want to learn.

Agree with you. Also, there may be users that do take the time to review the help center, get to know the criteria, and if they have questions afterwards, come to the community to ask said question or search for an answer.

I even remember one of my first searches on the old forums being for LFLs that are on SFPRP. Didn’t have to ask the question, as it found plenty of answers in a search.

This is absolutely the case. Its why I gave up. Everyone here just comes off condescending and uppity. At the end of the day, it’s a game and it really doesn’t matter. I just wanted to be able to play the game in my area, instead I was met with “better than thou” attitudes and a whole lot of contradicting information. I took a lot of the advice that was given and all my nominations were denied again. I’m not going to drive to go play the game in a different part of town while I walk my dogs.

What specifically sounded “uppity”? I will work on my tone when I explain criteria.

Suburban neighborhoods, like mine, are some of the hardest places to find anything eligible. Almost everything is on SFPRP (single family private residential property.) In our neighborhood, we only had the communal playground, until the town came through on the plan to put a greenway through it connecting parks on either side. There is still a lot of the neighborhood that doesn’t have anything though.

That makes no sense to me. If it is accessible and isnt someone’s actual house, why does that make it ineligible? The person that lives on the corner I can guarantee doesnt own the sign behind their house. The person that lives near the guard house doesn’t own the guard house.

Most people’s responses have been unhelpful. Telling someone to read something assuming they haven’t read, or pointing someone to a forum with hundreds of replies and just making them search for the information instead of just saying what needs to be said. Its like saying “I have the answers, I’m just not going to tell you, do the research like I had to.” I’m sorry I don’t have hours a day to give to reading through hundreds of forum posts looking for what you already know.

This is part of a settlement of a lawsuit brought against Niantic, and is non-negotiable. I don’t have a link to it, but someone here will.

I do see that you had one person on this post giving contrary advice to everyone else, and I do see that many replies here were aimed at countering what that person was saying. I am sorry unhelpful answers were given.

I do link criteria because I think that is the best way to verify what I am saying, and because becoming aware that the sources exist can also usually answer future questions without having to first suffer another rejection and come here to have it explained. Even for me, who prides myself on knowing where to find all the answers, it can be confusing to know where to look.

Can you point me to an answer I gave that I could have improved on?

we are not making the rules, we are just following them…

I’m sorry if you think I’m singling you out, my statement was meant to be general, as a lot of the replies from many different people were condescending or uppity.

Oh i don’t feel singled out! I love helping here, and if I am not actually helping, I want to fix that!

They are not any of these if they are correct to the rules created by Niantic.

And again, a condescending remark for no reason.

It is to try and help everyone that is thinking like you that we are not being “uppity”, we are following criteria.

It would be easy to turn this round by stating you are being uppity expecting us to Accept nominations that do not meet criteria.

@BryanM2210 remind me, did you want to share some examples of your nominations so we can give some advice about how to improve them?

I love seeing other people’s nominations and trying to think how to make them stronger to get a good result

Please be aware that if you think a comment is inappropriate, then you can flag it. Tap the three dots at the bottom and the flag option will come up. I actually had so much trouble finding these guidelines again when I needed to check them that I made a post so I could link them.

Sorry if you already did, the thread got really long and although I scrolled up, I couldn’t see.

I also found you can just ignore someone by clicking their profile and changing the bell notification to ignore and selecting a timeframe.
