I don’t understand why my wayfair doesn’t meet the criteria of being an eligible poke stop? It’s a welcome sign easily accessible to the public with sidewalk access and is overall very pretty walking spot that tons of people even outside the community come to visit every day. I see plenty of signs that are pokestops quite frankly that are incredibly boring and are just regular signs while my submission is a very scenic sign with a garden on top of that. A very similar sign was accepted to be a gym and that is undergoing the same circumstances as my submission but it it’s not accessible by sidewalk access and is a lot more dangerous to access than mine is. Bloomfield tower is on a busy highway and is only accessible to the people inside the neighborhood while my sign is accessible from multiple non busy road entry points and sidewalks.
These signs are definitely not universally accepted.
Some wayfarers will accept all of them. Some will check for private property issues. Some will consider the artistic merits. Some will reject all of them.
They don’t meet criteria very well. They do not encourage exercise (being a place where you can exercise is not sufficient), do not encourage social interaction (being a place where you can meet up is not sufficient) and are not very worthy of exploration (do people go round admiring these and visiting a place because of them?)
You will find rejection reasons in your wayfarer account. This might have a private property rejection, as it appears to be on the boundary of the property behind.
That is certainly not true at all. There are tons of people who come here with their friends and families for walks the whole neighborhood is a circle and have sidewalks around the entire thing it is definitely encouraged for exercise, and meetups. I see beautiful neighborhoods all the time and most of the time I’m drawn in by the sign and area that welcomes you.
The point is they do not come for the sign. People walk there because it is a nice place to walk. You might be drawn by the sign, but I doubt most people are.
Is it on a property wall?
The entire property is open for the public and your logic is very flawed. People don’t visit pokestops for that specific pokestops as most of the time they are generally signs, benches, statues etc… it’s a significant part of the area though and that’s why people stop by them.
I have been begging Niantic to make a clarification on these neighborhood signs. Just because you have seen some accepted does not mean they were correctly accepted. They generally do not encourage exercise, exploration, or being social. Ask yourself if you would take a friend out specifically to see one of these signs for a reason that has nothing to do with Pokemon Go.
I would encourage people to visit here and I already have. It’s a great neighborhood for exploring, exercise and meetups. We have community meetups here all the time in this neighborhood.
In the neighborhood, sure, but not at this sign. Submit all the spots to be social in the neighborhood.
When you go to parks or meetup spots are you socializing around the entire park or just going to that park for the bench landmarks there? That makes no sense what you’re trying to imply
Regardless of the merits of this sign, it is on the external boundary of the single-family private residential property behind the sign. This means it is not eligible.
The local park in the area has a sign that is a pokestop that is surrounded by homes. Why is that acceptable but this isn’t
Something can be surrounded by private properties. It cannot be on the private property.
Think of a wayspot on the pavement (sidewalk), near a main road. It is OK because it is near the main road, but not on it.
This isn’t private property it’s open to the public
You are misunderstanding. The sign is on private property. The space near the sign is OK, but not the sign.
What specifically about the sign isn’t okay? It’s a welcome sign which is literally one of categories niantic has listed on their pokestop nominations. You’re already stated the area is okay so I’m not understanding the issue
Please read this clarification.
The park sign represents the park, which is a great place to go to get exercise, explore, and be social. A neighborhood like this is just a collection of homes, so it does not meet criteria as a proxy in the same way that a park sign would.
Occasionally a sign like this could have artistic or historic merit in its own right that would meet criteria, but this one does not.
I looked around on the map to try to suggest nominations in common areas where the community here would gather, but I can’t see any from satellite or street view. Is there a community clubhouse, or dog walking area, or anything like that?
“Objects in or upon apartment blocks, gated communities, or their shared spaces may be eligible assuming they otherwise meet criteria and are intended to be accessed by a community“ this is a shared open space for anyone to enter. Why are you so convinced this is private property
Please look at the streetview image I posted above and consider where the sign actually is.
