I’m out of text edits, so probably done enough for top tier, end time interesting because can then start waiting for result announcement.
I’m pretty much burnt out on text edits. Considered writing one for a memorial but couldn’t find any more information than what was on the plaque. But I did had to send a second set of text edits on my nearby tennis courts as it is just announced they’re not free anymore. Beyond that, just did a couple of photo updates on spots I submitted when I began in '22. Total now at 220.
I wonder if this means you’re rate limited. If you view too many profiles (or just do something that does too many server requests) in Ingress than it will tell you “scanner running hot” where there’s a temporary cooldown.
I find that unlikely based on the nature of the experience.
But speaking of which - I didn’t experience this with any of my photos today. Is anyone still having this happen? I don’t recall the exact ones I had trouble with so I can’t look back at those.
One of the ones that definitely had issues (albeit for me or was affecting almost everything) now seems fine, so maybe resolved
When does this event ebd and when are the reqards dished out? Ive defo not got the top proze, couldnt find ebougb edits and didnt have enoigh time to take pictures, but i think i got enough (despite emily rejecting obvious moves and randomly rejecting capitalisation and punctuation corrections) to get at least a decent reward lol
Yesterday when I went out, I didn’t have the issue either. I typically only check the photos if the main one isn’t the best, to see and maybe upvote a better one, or add my own if there’s only one photo.
During the challenge, I typically know before I go out which Wayspots I want to take photos of, so with the images not loading, it wasn’t that big of an issue. I still submitted my photos, that was no issue.
It ends today, Nov 13th, at 12pm Pacific Time, which is 2000 UTC. So, about 2 hours left.
As long as you submitted at least 10 edits during the challenge, you’ll qualify for the main community rewards, which is for the total number of edits submitted by the community. The community ML rewards requires both the community reach a certain number of edits accepted by ML, and each individual to reach 1-3 ML acceptances.
I might be around 100 for the individual rewards, but I really didn’t focus much on those as the prizes aren’t as good to me.
I’m (still) not great at navigating the Wayforum and haven’t been paying close attention to the event, but this is the announcement at the beginning of the event:
Challenge Timelines:
- Challenge Kick-Off
- Oct 30, 2024 12:00 PM PDT
- Challenge Ends
- Nov 13, 2024 12:00 PM PDT
- Reward Distribution
- Nov 13, 2024 - Nov 29, 2024
It’s not uncommon for reward distribution to get pushed back, but I find it unlikely that the challenge ending will be moved any.
Congratulations Community! We all did it.
I know it’s a tall ask, and I don’t know if we will get the answers, but will we be able to get approximate combined figures? It’s not massively important, especially as we have attained the target.
They’re probably sorting through the final numbers, but he did say we’ll get them. I imagine they’ll have to muddle through and remove some abusive edits before we get a final tally.
Just wondering if some of the older edits that are still in queue will either get pushed into voting, or reevaluated by ML. I still have a description edit I submitted on Oct 30th, the 2nd one I submitted for the challenge, in queue, yet I have newer edits that have been voted on, even some that have been decided on.
BTW, the description edit in question is for a Wayspot that doesn’t even have a description currently.
I imagine that the outstanding edits in queue or voting will be left to resolve naturally at this point.
We reached the top eMiLy tier so forcing her to take another look at all of the edits likely wouldn’t change anything, as she’s already looked at everything once.
I heard that ML is going on a paid holiday for 6 weeks to recover from this event!
ML seemed so weird to me during the challenge, especially for Wayspots without descriptions or very poor descriptions. I even had a better description earlier this week go into Niantic voting; the current description is just “Church,” nothing that actually describes the church. I did research beforehand, found out what denomination it’s a member of, just extended it out from just “Church.”
@P1dg3ySlayer Ha!
eMiLy rejected one of mine, that was blank previously. I happened to have an appeal so I used it and it was approved fairly quickly. But yeah, sometimes the decisions are a bit head scratchy
The community rejected a location edit of mine (current location is on the sidewalk, not the actual POI, which is a light-up toothbrush sign for a local dental office), so I’ve resubmitted it. 2nd one is still in queue.
Did the Pokémon GO blog/social channels ever post about this Challenge in the end?
