Has anyone else lost their motivation to review?

This is a huge issue in my local community. Upgrades have become much more difficult for people to get here, and for years, nothing would even remotely move without them. Most people don’t have a stockpile of upgrades as a result, including me. Now that they are harder to earn because the coal is gone most people have completely stopped reviewing. I’m having more trouble explaining the nuance of reviewing as well to people who aren’t as experienced with Wayfarer, and the frustration is palpable. I enjoy nuance, but I know most people don’t. Reviewing is a matter of utility for most, and if the rewards aren’t easy to come by they don’t have the pre-existing emotional attachment that will help them power through. I personally don’t think there is anything wrong with that, to be clear. I even low-key feel it.

I would wade through a thousand reviews for swag though. Just sayin’. :woman_shrugging:

Nope. It is so exciting to see all this wonderful things and places. I noticed a couple of them for holiday trips
And I can learn so much

I try to review often, but it’s a slog. I don’t have much free time so it feels like it takes months to get an upgrade. I’m loving the ML approves. I’ve got about 40 submissions going atm, a lot from last August and September with some still in queue, so getting some through in less that 24hrs is very motivating! Even with an upgrade it can take a week for something to get voted on. But the last few days I’ve been out exploring local areas with the toddler to find good potential wayspots. It’s a lot of fun

Niantic destroyed my motivation to review when they sent me an educational email over a nomination I still feel I rejected correctly. I am not comfortable with the new review flow options. Clarifications are no longer available on the help menu, and I don’t know which historical ones to follow.
I had completely stopped reviewing, but still have pending nominations from as far back as October 2022, so I felt like the community needed my input, and started again. But now more than half the nominations I see are things I am not sure about, and I skip or let as many time out as I review.
With the ML model doing such a good job now at accepting nominations, I am not sure I need either upgrades or appeals. I have almost a hundred upgrades stockpiled that I don’t want to use, because any nominations that require consideration get rejected on upgrade. And most rejected nominations I have resubmitted have been approved by “our team” which is cutting way down on my need for appeals.

I made an attempt at humor that was so bad, the abuse bot hid it and put it on hold.

It wouldn’t even allow me to edit it, at first, because they thought I would continue with the darkest of diatribes.

Let’s see if a little creative orthography helps the original version to pass at last.

Niantic: “We hear you really like ‘garbage’! Have we got some garbage for you. It really stinks on ice…”

Niantic: We hear you enjoy coal. Boy howdy, have we got some coal for you. Dark as darkest night…

My nominations now get stuck in voting for months and don’t get a result without an upgrade.

Yeah I know some people have been waiting years for theirs. But for me this has never happened. Once in voting I usually get a result in a few hours or a day. Something has changed because my nominations in other area get a quicker result. It takes forever now.

They have been putting the “final” touches on it since an AMA in 2021. They had plenty of time to figure something out.

I agree I probably could have added more options, but I also wanted to keep it simple.

Just kidding, wanted to try out how the new forum inserts pie chart polls into comments.

Back on topic, there are interesting comments in this post, so is not that simple to fit into 3 options anyway)

I stopped reviewing when they changed from the 5 star rating system and I just submit now. I have likely only reviewed about 10 things in the past 6 months.

Good to see you passed me in a big way lol. I have not made a single review since the end of October because they pissed me off so bad. After having things rejected for ridiculous reasons I barely even submit poi as well. I am I have been sitting on 64010 reviews made and I think I was in front of you by 1k or 2k in October and we were reviewing pretty close to the same amount when I quit. That means they most likely have lost over 30,000 reviews made by me LOL. I dont miss it a bit.

Wayfaring has opened up an exciting new aspect of Pokémon GO for me, or maybe it’s become its own distinct activity. It’s difficult to definitively say. While I recognize the value of reviewing to assist fellow Wayfarers, I can’t say it’s my favorite part. However, thanks to AI, the number of my nominations getting accepted has surged in the last two weeks, a stark contrast to the previous three months where I grinded for 20 upgrades.

I try to review somewhere between five and 20 every time I go onto the website to check on my nominations. This does two things keeps me from checking the website too often and make sure I’m still building up agreements.

Yep, I was flagging already but the new systems killed the last bit of joy that I had from reviewing, I had such hopes that it would be a fantastic change and it really wasn’t.
I just doesn’t feel worth it any more, it’s become a thankless chore sadly.

Sometimes getting things I believe are eligible rejected (including on appeal) annoys me and I stop interacting with the whole system.

Sometimes it makes me review quite a lot because I feel the need to “balance out” the bad rejections.

So I’m mixed. Sometimes, absolutely, yes.

By the way I’m also waiting for my “educational email/terrifying ban warning” for all the trail markers I’ve submitted since the criteria update made them seem recommended as great places for exercise rather than coal that warrants a ban! When I get that email I will stop doing any of it.

Well I have (or had) a YouTube channel teaching people how to submit Pokestops but I posted my last video last night. It was a topic that was very important to me as a reviewer and a player trying to protect the integrity of the original get out and explore concept of the game. I feel like the path to that has been lost so combining that with other things I won’t add more content.

I’ve enjoyed your channel. Thanks for having it even if you don’t plan to post anymore.

I saw your video earlier. Sad that you have had such a poor experience and have decided to stop making videos. So many good wayfarers are increasingly disillusioned.

It’s more than that really. I just can’t get YouTube to push out my videos and as a result I just decided I would rather spend time on a channel that has helped 10s of thousands of people instead of 50. I agree people need help, but when I get asked questions in person it’s usually how do I get a PokeStop at my house. Well there you go I answered it for them now I have nothing else to answer

Does that mean that you have another cahnnel that you are concentrating on now or have I misunderstood?
Its a shame that so many seem to be only interested in improving the games for themselves and not look at the bigger picture and work to make them better for all the community. I always liked your wayfarer videos, sorry that they didn’t get the attention they deserved.
