Does anyone feel like you are working for free?

No one is making us play these games or even sign up for reviewing “Wayspots”. But once you kindly accept the challenge, it feels like the Company is using you… rewards are really bleak and it feels like someone up there, even a machine, is using you as a reviewer getting all the money from the players but having you to work for free and not giving anything real. I am so dissapointed in this “Company”.

Our “reward” for contributing to the wayspot database is free games. Not in game gifts.

Both Ingress and Pokémon Go have medals in their games based on the number of nomination Agreements. So this may be motivation for reviewers. I know it motivates me.

But I do agree that Upgrades are less of an incentive now.

Yup, I got one yesterday, it felt good as an achievement, I must say.

Your first part contradicts with the 2nd part. You are right, no one is making you play or sign up to be a wayfarer. Its a volunteer basis. But just because you dont like what is offered to you doesnt mean anyone is using you, me, or anyone else. If you dont think its enough reward for your time, look at your first sentence, “No one is making us” so just stop.

Personally, I like reviewing not for upgrades, badges or rewards but to help people get more game locations they can interact with or to help keep their area up to date. Partially cause I know that I cant expect others to review my nominations in a timely manor if I dont help review theirs. Thats how the reviewing process works. Any rewards I get are just extra thanks for helping out other Wayfarers. Thats how I see it.

If you don’t want to do Wayfarer, don’t do it.

But most people think their payment is to get interaction points in their games which enhance their playing experience.

I was so happy when they decided to allow us Pokemon Go players to do Wayfarer stuff - which is ironic since I submit almost exclusively from Ingress. I feel grateful for the opportunity to add to my game experience as well as other’s.

If you feel like you are being used, I strongly urge you to stop participating in Wayfarer. Mental health is worth more than any game location.

I feel like this is a hobby on its own right.

It certainly seems to be for specific people who like to dive in and write. The problem would be its probable impact to more games where the apps do not provide much introduction for this.

If we apply your reasoning for any app that collects data from us and has rules to follow, it also applies for the other apps. Catching/hunting/walking virtual monsters also do not provide anything real other than the enjoyment we get as players and the camaraderie we form as fans.

I know exactly what I said because it is there, but I am not contradicting myself as I the first part of my speech was an explanation of my second point. We just drop dead and leave this conversarion there, but this is not a non-human affaire. I could just leave it of course and go do something else. But this is how the game I want to play makes me feel. Sorry it is too black and white for ya. Have a nice day.

Nobody is making me review or submit wayspots. I contribute because I want a better gameplay, not just for myself, but for my local and extended community. I do it because I want the games to remain free to play. I know subscriptions exist for Ingress, and I know there were rumours about subscriptions coming to Pokemon Go (whether they are true or not). I want to continue playing Pokemon Go for free as much as possible.

If you don’t want to review, don’t. Nobody is making us review or submit. The rewards they are giving us would normally require us to buy them. We do this not to get any mega rewards, so any rewards to say thank you will always be welcomed.

I think credibility should be a nice reward. Like having people rewiew places in our places in person would be a nice mission to accomplish.

PoGo has plenty of ticketed research and events that one has to pay for with money, not coins, and some weren’t that happy that the ticketed research for the last Community Day went up in price. There is also a monthly ticket that they have been testing and tweaking for about a year now.

As for why I like Wayfarer, well, I do like finding new POIs in my community, and trying to get them added to the map. If my approved Wayspot doesn’t appear in PoGo, I know it might in Ingress, be a future Power Spot, or be used by the developers that have access to the map for what they are creating. I could care less that I’m not getting paid (except for the rewards from global challenges); I care more that I’m helping to make an interesting map of unique POIs that some may never even look twice at sometimes.

That would be hard to do in a place that has winter, when blizzards and other snow storms force most to stay inside, usually in their homes, for their safety. Or those in the Los Angeles area right now, having to deal with the wildfires and the unhealthy air. Much safer to review from my computer or phone inside my home or another comfortable and safe location.

i don’t understand.

Please feel free to use your native language. It seems like many of us are having a hard time understanding what you mean when you type in English. We have a translation tool available to us.
