Help understanding pokestop rejection

Can anybody give me tips on why this stop nomination has been rejected

Welcome to the forum! “Various rejection criteria” isn’t much help, is it? I think this reason comes from a “community” decision as stated in your email. If the ML (machine learning ai) model rejected it, the email says “our team.”

I think it is a little difficult to tell what the focus of your photo is. Try taking a photo before you start making the nomination, then crop or straighten it until it is clear that you are submitting the footbridge. Then you can choose existing photo when you make the submission. You may even find that ML will go ahead and accept it if you get a better focus that makes it easy for the ai to detect what this is. Something like:

Sometimes I will even step to the side to get a slight angle to make it clear this is going over something, and not just a place in the sidewalk with guard rails beside it.

It shouldn’t have caused the rejection, but it should say “a part” instead of “apart”.

Lastly, I know the prompt asks you why this would be a good Pokestop, but you are actually submitting a Wayspot. Don’t mention game terms. But other than that you did a good job explaining how this meets criteria as a place to exercise and explore, without even using those words.

Can this be seen on satellite view? You may need to point out to reviewers how they can be convinced it could exist there as well if it can’t.

OH! I knew this footbridge looked familiar, but I did not have anything by that name in my review history. But I do have this:

Ignore those rating numbers - they don’t match up to the current review flow. This one is not showing up as a live portal in ingress so I can’t see it on any map i can access, but you can check if this footbridge is already a Wayspot by using the pogo toggle in the nomination screen while you are on site. It could be that you got the various rejection criteria because the later reviewers saw it as a duplicate of this one, but it wasn’t a duplicate when earlier reviewers saw it.

Do not try to resubmit or appeal this if the other is the same footbridge and is already a Wayspot.

Are you sure it’s in the database? I’m looking at the address and I can’t see it in the surrounding area.

No. Just saying that I had reviewed that same footbridge in the same general location in a different nom. So I guessed that it might be in the database but said it was not a portal yet. Thank you for confirming that it is not in the database, so that is not the issue then.

I did say “if” it is a Wayspot, and did tell the op how to check this through the nomination map screen.

Hi! Yes this is the same footbridge. After getting this one rejected I assumed it got rejected due to the second photo not including the bridge in it and that the title might have been too long.

When it comes to satellite view on some maps you are able to see it but on some you cant. This is because this bridge is located in a new neighborhood. Also because of the bridge being in the middle of the woods its still very hard to see it. How would you suggest going about explaining how it is actually there?

Well I did accept the one I got so I guess I did not get an agreement! The bridge can be seen in Street View from David Hill Drive

I would explain this to reviewers in the supporting. It should be clear from satellite view that this is a new neighborhood.

If I were going to submit this, I would try to get a really good main photo with a clear focus on the footbridge without too much other stuff in the frame like I suggested earlier and hope ML picks it up. I might try to take the supporting photo to match this angle from street view so reviewers can match it up if it goes to human review. If you can’t get a good photo this way, then try to take the supporting to include the footbridge and the back side of these houses, then tell people they can match the houses in the supporting to the houses on the David Hill Drive street view. Pretty much what I think you did in the one I saw, just a few steps back so that the footbridge can be seen.

Oh and as they add amenities that you can submit, you can try linking a map like this in the supporting section to prove they are where you say they are.

Right now it is just a lot of “future amenities” but hopefully they are coming soon.

Okay, I am going to venture out and snap a good focused picture of the bridge as well as the supporting photos you have mentions. I would like to thank you for your time and very helpful answers!

if you want feedback on which we think would work the best, you can post them here for opinions!

Id love some opinions

Here are 3 I snapped for the actual photo of the bridge.

And here is what I have the the support photo.

Also when I do the descriptions and such I am probably going to use the same ones and update certain mistakes. And in the supporting message I am going to add the details you told me to about how its not on satellite view but if you go into street view and lining up the houses.

Okay now that I see the two angles, I love the last one for the supporting showing the houses. I think I would use the second one for the main. Let’s hope this works this time :crossed_fingers:

Hi quick question for you, Ever since this stop was added ive noticed there has not been any pokemon spawning near it. Any idea on why?

New pokestops dont magically create spawn points.

Oh, I just normally see “sightings” at pokestops so I just assumed that pokemon were attracted to stops. I also have noticed on the route I made for this no Route pokemon spawned.

If there is a spawn point close to a newly created pokestop then it will start to show on the nearby. This can give the impression that the spawn is new like the stop, but it’s just a case that the game now has a way to show that spawn point.
